Feedback from New Page Review process

[edit]

I left the following feedback for the creator/future reviewers while reviewing this article: Hello my friend! Good day to you. Thanks for creating the article, I have marked it as reviewed. Have a blessed day!

Hey there I wanted to know if there is any help you need with this. I enjoyed the first game and thought maybe helping out a bit. I am new to Wikipedia though. Dimka12d1sa (talk) 14:19, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

controversies

[edit]

there should at least be a couple words about the nprotect gameguard and the servers not working MildLoser (talk) 02:55, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I tend to agree, there are quite a few articles talking about the matchmaking issues and login queues. Although from the article history, it seems these edits are being reverted. Not sure why. Here are some reliable sources on the topic. Steam reviews dropping to mixed is particularly interesting.

Media Literacy discourse

[edit]

The fact that the game is a Starship Troopers style satire of fascist propaganda should be mentioned. As should the fact that through this, it ignited a broad online discourse on social media about media literacy. 46.97.170.155 (talk) 14:30, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I added a well-sourced paragraph on april 7 and it was deleted by some anonymous IP user 2A02:168:D611:0:440C:EF3E:30F6:D72A as "left wing propaganda." I don't think he even read the paragraph because it simply noted anti-fascist interpretations, it didn't even advocate for antifascism GalacticEncyclopedist (talk) 13:08, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Infobox

Change wikilink for Steam to Steam (service) while retaining the current text displayed in Infobox. 58.107.85.151 (talk) 04:43, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

More in-depth overview of the gameplay

[edit]

I think going a bit more in-depth on gameplay elements like the button prompts used for stratagems, the extraction part of a mission, or even the fact that missions are part of larger operations could help flesh out this article a bit more. Rippleyfan (talk) 02:32, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest add section called "Scandals"

[edit]

Suggested text is: On March 20, 2014, in the PATCH 1.000.103 update, the developers announced that online features do not function when the Ukrainian language is selected in the console settings. Thus, in violation of Swedish legislation on discrimination, as well as Steam's rules for developers prohibiting discrimination on the basis of ethnicity. Proof is this: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/553850/view/4141695629538335799 VollyM (talk) 11:14, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That's marked as a "Known Issue", not a deliberate feature. It's a bug they're working on -- how is this a scandal? 204.111.195.145 (talk) 16:04, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, sure! It's my fault. I wrote this text based on the fact of comments on twitter, as well as mentions in local media.
My bad. VollyM (talk) 17:01, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Claiming it as a violation of any law is WP:OR. Your citation is the official patch notes, it does not claim any scandal or law was broken. If there is an actual controversy then third-parties will report on it and you can cite them assuming it isn't WP:UNDUE (which it currently is). 50.38.35.238 (talk) 16:16, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, sure. No one WP:OR and WP:UNDUE. My Bad. Sources, only sources. VollyM (talk) 17:02, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Why would a bug be considered discrimination? Vladimir Hunter (talk) 21:43, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Added more to gameplay section

[edit]

Hey I made a few additions to the gameplay section of the page to try to help flush it out a bit more. I added a few sentences about the enemy types, the mission difficulties, the rewards for missions/what they are used for, and edited the battle pass section, since there is more than one battle pass now. There is definitely more that could be added like the weather events, limited respawn/game timer, the role of Joel the developer in enemy movements, etc. Let me know if you have any suggestions or comments about the additions I made. ZNeptune (talk) 02:37, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Plot lacking

[edit]

A lot more about the environmental storytelling could be added to the current synopsis in the plot section. I think the article would benefit with the addition of the lore about dissidents and cover ups that detail the patriotic immersion of the game. I believe the Contract of Employment is a big part that details exactly what is expected of the Helldivers and their treatment. The article could benefit from a few reference pictures as well. Sales Strategy and Success Addition

[edit]

I've added a section that details the game's overall sales success. This addition focuses on the game's strategic approach to monetization, community engagement, and gameplay innovation. I believe this information is relevant and adds valuable context to the game's commercial and critical reception. Any feedback on the relevance of this addition to the game’s success, or any other general feedback, would be much appreciated. Pherur (talk) 23:01, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Platforms

[edit]

This game is playable through steam on other operating systems besides windows, but it mentions only Playstation and windows. I have played it on arch through Proton, saying that it was released for just Playstation and windows isn't correct. Thingmaster this (talk) 04:40, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Unofficial compatibility tools like Proton do not change the platform the game was compiled and released for. Grand Theft Auto V is playable on Linux via Proton, but it's not a listed supported platform because there's no Linux binary released on any distribution platform, as is the case for other games that work well under Proton like Cyberpunk 2077, Fallout 4, or Dying Light. Steam sales delisting

[edit]

There is now two duplicate statements on this that don't agree on the date:

"On 4 May, the listing on Steam was updated to disallow sales to 177 countries where PSN is not available." "On 5 May the game was pulled out from sale in 177 countries where PSN is not available."

The first one seems to be the date of the actual change, while Eurogamer reported on it a day later (depends on your timezone I guess?).

Also, it's not 177 countries, but 177 regions (so US territories, regions of other countries like French Guiana and even Antarctica). Lqc (talk) 19:16, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
