Mysteries

[edit]

Unanswered questions about this man: he left SA for Victoria for health reasons - unlikely. Did he marry around 1890? Did she die around 1895? And then marry the widow Walsh in 1896. No mention in the SA Press, when it should have been big news.

And his sons enlist in the Army (H.C. did the Officers' course and H.G. as a foot-slogger), but both gave fictitious initials for father on enlistment forms. Nothing sinister about not wanting to be associated with a musician parent, particularly if you're not so inclined yourself.

And converts from probable nominal Lutheran to Catholic. A big move in those days. Not to please his wife as she died 1903. But the boys were educated at Xavier College. Doug butler (talk) 11:21, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
