Quotes in the Lead

[edit]

"Short quotes in the lead are fine". Radek, sorry they are inappropriate, especially when they are nonsense. Otherwise I'd add this one to the lead of the Boer War... While serving as a subaltern in the Boer War, the young Churchill was asked by a superior officer to give his opinion of the Boers as soldiers. "They're assholes, sir," he ventured, then paused briefly and added, with a whimsical smile, "They're assholes." Dr. Dan (talk) 05:21, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You're comparing apples and oranges. If there were an article on Churchill's opinion of the Boers or what motivated Churchill's policy then a quote like that would also be fine. It's sourced, it doesn't mess with article flow.radek (talk) 05:32, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
"Sourced" makes everything alright. Unless one doesn't agree with the source of course. I for one have no problem with the source, just the ridiculousness of the quote. I think Konopka deserves better. Dr. Dan (talk) 05:39, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dan, I made a list for you, so you don't have to click on my contribs every time.radek (talk) 05:56, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
