Slew of removed content and sources

[edit]

Good day. I'd like to open a discussion with all authors who have an eye on this page, including user @powerlight1, with regards to a slew of edits made over the past few days by the user. These edits remove a number of links and some information, citing Wikipedia rules such a no social media links allowed as sources, and others. I am by no means an expert on sourcing protocol, so I humbly invite more knowledgeadble editors to weigh in and reference relevant help pages. However, it appears to me that this commendable effort to make the page adhere to Wikipedia rules and encyclopedic tone is not entirely consistent across the page and is removing content without offering alternatives. Examples:

- Edit with oldid=1191399149 is made with the argumentation that only notable and popular roles should be included in the infobox's "known for" section, which I would agree with. However, removed roles are some of First's most famous ones: Sand in Only Friends and Yok in Not Me.

- Removed from the 'references' section of the Discography table are links to the YouTube videos to the songs First is part of. No other sources are provided. What would be a better and more acceptable source to use here? Other than social media announcements by GMMTV, there may be news articles in Thai, I suppose. If editors to the English Wikipedia do not speak Thai but want to contribute to this page, what would be the best thing to do here?

- Removed are a number of in-line sources, including some that link to IMDb as a source for First's participation in certain series. This appears to be supported by WP:IMDB. However, I'd argue that it would be helpful to find a source to replace IMDb with here, rather than just leave the information hanging. In the interim, might it not be worth keeping IMDb as First's appearance in these programs is not disputed information and IMDb is at least somewhat reliable in the case.

- In the same edit (oldid=1191400536) removed is also a source from GMMTV's official website. Why is that? Should that not be an official source?

As a whole, I'd like to ask user PowerLight1 to please use caution when making such edits and consider providing more appropriate sources when removing ones not accepted by Wikipedia in cases like these where the information is not inaccurate or disputed, just needs to be supported by a more acceptable source.

I'd greatly appreciate if others could weigh in on what the best practices would be in this case. Thank you. SlipknotRlZZ (talk) 06:58, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging users @BrightsForever and @Materialscientist since you have both edited this page before. Would appreciate your thoughts! I intend to translate this page to Bulgarian and before I do, I'd like to see if I can contribute to getting it in better shape in English too. Thanks.
