Rename?

[edit]

On the List of Wisconsin state parks, there is a (red)link to Lapham Peak Unit, Kettle Moraine State Forest. This sounds like the official name for the park, so I think the article ought to be renamed. An article by the name Lapham Peak really should be about the hill itself - which isn't noteworthy enough for its own article. -Freekee

Strange. Is it a park or a forest? Should the other units of the KMSF have their own articles? I think so. As should the KMSF itself. -Freekee 03:30, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think users will be searching for "Lapham Peak Unit, Kettle Moraine State Forest" but you raise a good point though. In my opinion, Lapham Peak should stay the same. If our Lapham Peak article changes its name, under the same logic, the Kettle Moraine article (and others like it) should also change their names to include "state park" or "unit" in them. Actually, there *are* two articles on that subject. One is Kettle Moraine, and the other is Kettle Moraine State Forest. And they do all say "State Park", like Governor Dodge State Park. It really needs to say "State park" at the very least. And I think it should give the official name. As for searching, if you rename the page, the original page will remain as a redirect, so anyone searching for simply "Lapham Peak" will end up at the "Lapham Peak State park" page anyway. I just did a rename last night, and that's how it worked. -Freekee 05:47, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like you could do your second rename in a row! I agree with your side of this discussion. NezzerX 11:57, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Or you could. It's pretty easy. What do you think it should be called? -Freekee 15:17, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I went to the List of Wisconsin state parks page and they seem to have it ironed out pretty well. In the talk section, they had a discussion why they chose to name things the way they did. I think we should go with what they suggested. NezzerX 14:44, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
