Dykstra Picture

[edit]

Ive seen the current picture up for a while, so it being of unfair use, or a copyright problem is out of the question. If there is a problem with the pic, it would of been taken off wikipedia a long time ago. Whammies Were Here (PYLrulz) 10:11, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It being up for a while has absolutley nothing to do with its accordance with Wiki policy. Fair use pictures aren't deleted from the commons, as fair use can only be determined from situation to situation. Please consult WP:FU, which prohibits the use of "an image of a magazine cover, used only to illustrate the article on the person whose photograph is on the cover."--Beaker342 16:26, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Colors in Info box

[edit]

In the interests of stopping the edit war on colors in the infobox, I have semi-protected the page for the next week. Please take the time to discuss and come to a consensus about what you'd like to do. - Philippe | Talk 21:52, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see that the page is unprotected (no beef about that now), but I figure that since Lenny was prominent on both teams, it would be better served that the colors in the infobox stay neutral, rather than Mets Orange and Blue, or Phillies Red and Blue. Info box colors

[edit]

I re-added Dykstra's Mets colors since he currently serves as a consultant to Mets owner Fred Wilpon (he was even considered as the team's manager before they hired Willie Randolph). This is footnoted in the Retirement section. Since he is currently affiliated with the Mets organization, then he should have Mets colors. Jjj222 23:02, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Does make some sense, but what about a player that had played for a certain team for his entire, or most of his carrer, then serves as an advisor or consultant for a different team? Since you mentioned that, that does make a little more sense, but I would be afraid of that line of reasoning to a degree if this were to come up with a different player. Whammies Were Here (PYLrulz) 10:27, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If George Brett suddenly started serving as a consultant for the Rangers, I wouldn't think that would be a reason to put Texas colors on him when he played his whole career on KC (unless he became their manager). But in Dykstra's case, he played for the Mets in the 1980's and was a World Series hero. Then he played on the Phillies in the early 1990's and nearly won an MVP. So he did have significant contributions for both franchises. However, I look at the fact that he is now affiliated with the Mets organization as a statement of his self-identification as a Met, and it is a good tie-breaker in this instance. Jjj222 13:11, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It doesnt matter he is working with the Mets, it is only if he was manager of the Mets that he would have Mets colors, he is known more with the Phils--Yankees10 00:25, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thats why I suggest on the neutral setting that I had been reverting to lately. That way there is no battles between Met and Phils fans. Anybody agree with me on a neutral color setting for the info box rather than Phillies or Mets colors in general?Whammies Were Here (PYLrulz) 10:19, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nationally, he is better remembered as a World Series hero for the Mets anyway. 68.173.209.19 13:44, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, but he was also very popular as a Phillie. Thats why I would keep it at neutral colors. That way, theres no argument at all between Mets colors, and Phillies colors. Whammies Were Here (PYLrulz) 06:23, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yankees10 is the only one making a big deal out of it, and he is only doing it because he hates the Mets and has a grudge against me. 68.173.209.19 13:46, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, there have been others that have re-reverted to Phillies colors, not just Yankees. Im sure theres others Phillies fans uninvolved with this that would want to switch it to Phillies colors, and Mets fans that would do the same. Thats why I would propose a neutral colored infobox.Whammies Were Here (PYLrulz) 14:17, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No one ever said I didnt like the Mets, there actually one of my favorite teams, so dont put words in my mouth.--Yankees10 13:57, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dykstra's work at TPC has resulted in numerous lawsuits, and may lead to bankruptcy for the magazine. In addition, he has come under fire for his work as an investment advisor/talking head. See stories: [1], [2] --208.82.225.245 (talk) 06:15, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The issues of above could be worked into the a Post-Retirement Business section? See also [3] HenryV19 (talk) 22:57, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can anyone help clarify this?

[edit]

In section titled "Business Affairs and Bankruptcy," I tagged a sentence fragment which seems like it should be part of the previous sentence. (It's in paragraph that begins with "In August 2009..."). Just wondering if anyone knows the facts in detail and can help clear/clean this up, because frankly I don't feel like scouring media reports about this. Thanks, sports/bankruptcy/crime experts!
