The result of the discussion was: merge. ~ Rob13Talk 04:25, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Propose merging:
Nominator's rationale: Redundant. As we recently renamed the by-country categories to "Media in foo", we should probably stick with that convention for these ones, too. See also Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2016 July 3#Media by continent. --PanchoS (talk) 23:13, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Merge per nom These are duplicate categories. Dimadick (talk) 00:04, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. ~ Rob13Talk 04:14, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: With no parent categories, no meaningul category text and containing just one page (in User namespace) it is very unclear what this category is intended to be for. DexDor (talk) 22:44, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. ~ Rob13Talk 04:16, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: I have previously nominated this page for speedy deletion on the grounds that it was empty, but the request was declined. Although the page does contain subcategories, all of the subcategories are empty. Furthermore, this category is a duplicate of Category:Media franchises, which seems to be the main venue for the articles that would otherwise be in this category. Therefore, I propose that it be deleted. Gluons12 talk 22:28, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: relisted here. ~ Rob13Talk 07:45, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: It was pointed out to me that the corresponding article, Gostaresh Foulad F.C., spells the club name differently. If this spelling is correct, then we should rename the category. Note that the article has been moved multiple times. The name "Gostaresh Foulad Tabriz" is used on the logo in the article's infobox. 100+ additional categories
Nominator's rationale: Following the convention of higher level categories and follow-up of WP:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2015_August_21#Visitor_attractions. Nocowardsoulismine (talk) 20:33, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: relisted here. ~ Rob13Talk 18:49, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: El Salvador clearly didn't exist in the 16th century. For consistency, it should either (1) be deleted and the pages upmerged to Category:16th century in Central America or even Category:16th century in North America; or (2) it can renamed to Category:Colonial El Salvador to follow Category:Colonial Guatemala and Category:Colonial Panama like at Category:Colonial Central America. The result of the discussion was: Rename to Category:User templates about userboxes. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 17:10, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: For clarity of purpose/scope. This category is for templates about userboxes. However, due to the vague name, people have been mistaking it for a "misc. userboxes" or "all userboxes" dumping ground, so some items in it need to be recategorized into particular subcats of Category:Userboxes after the rename. Also, it has some stuff in it that belongs in Category:Userbox arrangement templates.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  14:25, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Wikipedia editing-related user templates. ~ Rob13Talk 18:51, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Just so it makes some sense in English. I thought of "Edits-related user templates", because they're mostly edit counters and the like, but a few are broader, about topical editing preferences, editing approaches or philosophies, etc., so they'd have to be recategorized if the name were that narrow. (And the edit-counters need to move into the Category:Statistical userboxes subcat with the rest of them, anyway). Regardless, "edit user templates" sounds like a request, or templates relating to the editing of users, or something else confusing.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  13:31, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. ~ Rob13Talk 03:51, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: This category seeks to intersect status as an NBA player with alma mater. This is WP:OVERCATEGORIZATION in that Category:Tennessee Volunteers basketball players already exists (and is a sub-category of "Univeristy of Tennessee alumni") as do categories for each NBA franchise. The category also sets a precedent for 350+ other potential categories, none of which would be replacing any current ones. A list of players from UT who played in the NBA is interesting information, but would be best captured as a list on the Tennessee Volunteers basketball page or as a stand-alone list along the lines of List of Florida Gators men's basketball players in the NBA. The result of the discussion was: rename and rescope as per nom. ~ Rob13Talk 15:43, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:OCASSOC and WP:COMMONNAME
This category sounds like it might involve taxidermy in Smithsonian exhibits but it actually groups individual animals--mostly pandas--in the National Zoological Park (United States), which is under the Smithsonian. I doubt many zoo goers are aware of the parent company so the category name is unclear, grouping animals as a "museum collection" doesn't match the rest of that tree, and expanding the scope would allow us to add related articles: 1, 2, 3, 4. (Alternatively, if we really wanted to keep the current scope, Category:Individual animals at the National Zoological Park (United States) would be clearer if a bit wordy.) - RevelationDirect (talk) 02:57, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. ~ Rob13Talk 15:41, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:OCAWARD (WP:NONDEFINING)
The Letelier-Moffitt Human Rights Award is given out twice a year by the IPS for advocating human rights in the Americas. Winners have included Harry Belafonte, Families Speak Out, Pete Seeger and, despite their non-American focus, the Free South Africa Movement. The award is notable enough for an article but doesn't seem defining to the individual recipients; the articles in this category generally mention the award only in passing. If we decided to delete this category, the recipients are already listed here. - RevelationDirect (talk) 02:54, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. Good Ol’factory (talk) 10:52, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Certainly an example of a non-defining characteristic. Also, WP:OCAWARD. Could be converted to a list at Ed Block Courage Award, but I question whether that's even a good idea, given how many players receive this award. One player from each of the 32 NFL teams has received this award each season for a good while now. ~ Rob13Talk 01:58, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
