Les Wolff (born 1944) is a retired American football player and professional wrestler, known by his ringname "Beautiful" Buddy Wolfe, who competed in North American regional promotions including the American Wrestling Association, National Wrestling Alliance and the World Wide Wrestling Federation during the 1970s and 80s. Although having a successful singles career, his found his greatest success as the tag team partner of Don Jardine wrestling as the second incarnation of The Spoilers in the Tri-State territory. He was one of several men to team with Jardine as Spoiler #2, and arguably one of the most successful teamings, twice winning the NWA United States Tag Team Championship during the early 1970s. [1] Wolfe later formed a successful tag team with Lars Anderson who together were considered one of the top "heel" tag teams in the Midwest United States during the mid-1970s. [2] He was also the husband of Vivian Vachon, a popular French-Canadian female wrestler and member of the famous Vachon wrestling family, to whom he was married from 1978 until 1991 when she and his daughter Julie were killed in a car accident. [3] [4] Career[edit]Early life and career[edit]Wolfe wrestled in high school and college, later attending St. Cloud University, prior to becoming a former defensive end for the Norfolk Neptunes. He was voted Rookie of the Year during his first year in the Continental Football League but left the organization in 1968 to pursue a career in professional wrestling. [5] Trained by wrestler Verne Gagne, Wolfe was one of several students to debut during the early 1970s including Rick "The Dragon" Steamboat, "Nature Boy" Ric Flair and Pacific Northwest Wrestling mainstay "Playboy" Buddy Rose, [6] whom he would become a mentor to during his early career. [7] In one of his earliest matches, he lost to his future brother-in-law Maurice "Mad Dog" Vachon in Fargo, North Dakota on December 20, 1970. [8] From Atlanta to Texas[edit]He spent his first years in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling feuding with fellow Minnesota State alumni Ole and Lars Anderson. Wolfe dominated his feud with Ole Anderson and, to further the feud, a real-life incident in which Ole Anderson broke his nose while the two attended college was often referenced by Anderson who frequently claimed that Wolfe was trying to end his wrestling career. [5] During the summer of 1971, Wolfe wrestled in the Dallas-area for promoter Jack Adkisson. On July 20, he and Bronko Lubich fought Nick Kozak & Johnny Valentine to a draw at The Sportatorium. Later single matches against Bobby Shane and Johnny Valentine also resulted in draws. He scored one of his earliest victories when he defeated The Great Scott on August 10, however this was followed by a defeat in an 8-man tag team match with Bronko Lubich, Toru Tanaka and Skandor Akbar loosing to Nick Kozak & Johnny Valentine, Rey Mendoza and Jose Lothario on August 17. He continued feuding with Kozak and Valentine, fighting to a draw with Kozak on August 31 and defeating Valentine on September 7. The following week, he lost to Wahoo McDaniel in a best 2-of-3 pinfalls match. On September 21, he teamed with Toru Tanaka and Thunderbolt Patterson in a 6-man tag team match loosing to Johnny Valentine, Jose Lothario and Fritz von Erich. He faced Paterson and Valentine in a three-way elimination match with Valentine defeating pinning Patterson and himself on September 28. Although the Dallas Morning News reported that this match was the first "3-man free-for-all wrestling match" held in Dallas, this statement in inaccurate. On October 5, he teamed with Lubich, Patterson, Tanaka and George Hultz in a 10-man tag team match loosing to Kozak, Valentine, Jose Lothario, Sabu Singh and Bobby Burns. He defeated Burns in a singles match later that night. In another best 2-of-3 falls match, he teamed with Wahoo McDaniel and lost to Thunderbolt Patterson and Toru Tanaka on October 26. In the following weeks, he faced Toru Tanaka, Patterson and Joe Dusek. He fought his last match in the promotion fighting former tag team partner Bronko Lubich on December 14, 1971. [9] World Wide Wrestling Federation[edit]In late-1972, Wolfe began competing in the World Wide Wrestling Federation. He defeated Blackjack Slade in his debut match at Madison Square Garden on October 16, 1972. He had a mixed singles career defeating El Olympico but loosing to Chief Jay Strongbow, Tony Garea during the next few weeks. He also faced his old trainer Verne Gagne at Madison Square Garden on November 27. The next month, he defeated Sonny King but lost to Victor Rivera via disqualification on December 29. [10] The following year, he faced then WWWF World Heavyweight Champion Pedro Morales at the Westchester Civic Center in White Plains, New York on January 24, 1973. He would be the first of several major opponents to challenge Morales for the title that year. [11] Three days later, substituting for Prof. Toru Tanaka, he faced Chief Jay Strongbow at Sunnyside Gardens in Queens, New York. Later that day, he teamed with Moondog Mayne and King Curtis in a 6-man tag team match against Pedro Morales, Chief Jay Strongbow and Gorilla Monsoon in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 27. On February 10, he would score his first victory defeating Mike Conrad and would face Pedro Morales in several matches during the year. Teaming with Prof. Toru Tanaka & Mr. Fuji loosing to Pedro Morales, Gorilla Monsoon and Bobo Brazil at the Baltimore Civic Center in Baltimore, Maryland on February 20 and again faced Morales in a singles match at the Zembo Mosque in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on February 23. During the match, Wolfe sustained a serious headwound after hitting one of the turnbuckles and the referee stopped the match. He would also face Mil Mascaras and Lee Wong during the next several weeks before loosing to Pedro Morales in a Texas Death match on March 16 and, the following night, teamed with Moondog Mayne and Toru Tanaka in a 6-man tag team match against Gorilla Monsoon, Sonny King and El Olympico. On March 26, he would loose to Andre the Giant in his debut match at Madison Square Garden on March 26 [12] and to Pedro Morales in New London, Connecticut on April 13. He would again face Morales on April 21, during which time the match was again stopped by the referee due to a serious wound being sustained. He and Frank Valois would face Andre the Giant in a handicap match in Augusta, Maine on April 26 as well as facing Gorilla Monsoon and "Classie" Freddie Blassie before leaving the promotion in late April 1973. [13] American Wresting Association & National Wrestling Alliance[edit]Later that year, he and Lars Anderson (under the name "Luscious" Larry Heinimi) began teaming together and billed as "cousins" although this was kayfabe. While in the Midwest, they were one of the top tag teams in the World Wrestling Association. [2] They also had successful runs in the American Wrestling Association and in the Tri-State territory. For a brief time in the mid-1970s, he and Anderson owned and operated a chain of "shirt shacks" selling tie-dye shirts. [5] Wolfe also traveled to Japan along with Ric Flair, Skandor Ackbar and The Outlaws (Dick Murdoch & Dusty Rhodes) and toured with Isao Yoshihara's International Wrestling Enterprise promotion from June 18 to July 15, 1973. [14] The next year, he made an appearance for Verne Gagne's American Wrestling Association fighting Greg Gagne to a time limit draw at Comiskey Park in Chicago, Illinois on September 7, 1974. [15] After Anderson lost a retirement match to Billy Robinson forcing him to leave the AWA, Wolfe announced he had found a new tag team partner Kim Duk. He and Kim Duk had a brief but memorable run as a tag team, however they were ultimately unsuccessful in winning the AWA World Tag Team Championship and split up soon after. [5] In one of their last appearances as a team, they lost to Greg Gagne & Jim Brunzell at the Omaha Civic Auditorium on August 19, 1975. In October, while in NWA Texas, he scored victories over Red Bastien, Abe Jacobs and Bruiser Blackwell before fighting to a draw against NWA Texas Heavyweight Champion Al Madril in Dallas, Texas on October 28. The next night, he and John Tolos lost a tag team match to Andre the Giant and Jose Lothario in San Antonio. [16] On November 3, he defeated Al Madril for the NWA Texas Heavyweight Championship. He successfully defended the title against Tony Atlas and in rematches with Al Madrill before he losing to John Tolos later that month. [17] In June 1976, he was a wrestling sparring partner for Mohammed Ali and later faced him in an exhibition match at an AWA event in Chicago. At the time, Ali was preparing for his match against Japanese wrestler Antonio Inoki. [18] He was also a sparring partner for Kenny Jay. [5] The next month he lost to Moose Cholak at Comiskey Park in Chicago, Illinois on August 27, 1976. [19] Later that year, he traveled to Japan where he faced Abdullah the Butcher in a rare meeting. [20] While in NWA Florida, he teamed with "Superstar" Billy Graham and Steve Strong against Rhodes, Jack and Jerry Brisco at North Dade Jr. College in Miami on January 12, 1977. [21] He also defeated Steve Keirn in a tournament final to win the vacant NWA Florida Heavyweight Championship in March before loosing it to Dusty Rhodes three months later. The following year, he and "Killer" Karl Kox feuded with Rhodes and Wahoo McDaniel in Florida Championship Wrestling facing them in several tag team matches. Teaming with Ric Flair and Ox Baker, Wolfe lost to Andre the Giant and Dick the Bruiser in a three-on-two handicap match in St. Louis, Missouri on March 17, 1978. [22] That same year, he and female wrestler Vivian Vachon became married. Vachon retired and wanted to start a family, the two having a daughter Julie. Later career and retirement[edit]He defeated Lars Anderson for the WWL Heavyweight Championship in Joplin, Missouri on January 18, 1983. [23] After this point, Wolfe began to slow down making brief appearances in various regional territories. He teamed with Ken Timbs against Tojo Yamamoto & Johnny Wilhoit at the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis, Tennessee on July 16, 1984. [24] He eventually returned to the AWA where he spent the last years of his career. At the supercard Brawl in St. Paul, Wolfe fought Buck Zumhofe to a time limit draw at Comiskey Park in Chicago, Illinois on December 25, 1986. [25] The following year at SuperClash II, with Doug Somers & "Mr. Magnificent" Kevin Kelly, Wolfe lost to Ray Stevens and The Midnight Rockers (Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty) in a 6-man tag team match at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, California on May 2, 1987. [26] [27] Vivian Vachon and his daughter were killed in a drunk driving accident in Montreal on August 24, 1991. Wolfe was separated from his wife at the time. [5] Recent years[edit]Following his retirement, he eventually moved to Hackensack, Minnesota and formed a successful company, Banner Saver Pro 2000, which manufactures special custom brackets to keep banners from falling off signs in strong winds. He came up with the idea while watching the 2002 Winter Olympics and saw some of the banners being blown off signs. [5] In 2003, he made a public appearance with the Vachon brothers at the 2003 Cauliflower Alley Club Banquet & Reunion in Las Vegas, Nevada from April 4-6, 2003. [5] [28] At the event, he was one of several legends in attendance to give a speech. [7] Championships and accomplishments[edit]

The term started out as a literal attempt to mimic the sound of a heavily palm muted guitar, and then became reference for bands influenced by Swedish metal band Meshuggah. Djent is also considered a style of guitar riffing.
Meshuggah are considered the main leaders / innovators of Djent, however a series of new bands are expanding on this sound and its associated ideas and passing on new inspiration to yet more bands.

After High School and various Hendrix and Zeppelin cover bands Randy went to Berklee College of Music. It was there where Randy got to meet and play with other musicians from all over the world. Ironically, one of them would be from his own backyard Steve Vai. A mutual friend saw both Randy and Steve play and thought they would play great together so they were formally introduced and formed a Band called Morning Thunder. Morning Thunder also featured on keyboards David Rosenthal (Billy Joel, Rainbow, Cindy Lauper) and Eddie Rogers on drums. This was a band were any member could bring in a piece of music learn it and play it no matter how complicated. In fact, the songs on Randy's first solo CD "Funk Me Tender" and the songs from Steve's first solo CD "Flexibal" were originally performed by Morning Thunder. IMAGINE THAT! Randy left Morning Thunder to join the Canadian fusion band Orpheus this is were he got his first road experience by touring nonstop throughout Canada. Orpheus also recorded their second record in New York and featured two of Randy's songs. At this point Randy felt the need to have his own band so he returned to New York. "The Randy Coven Band" with Todd Turkisher on drums and Jim Hickey on guitar recorded "Funk Me Tender" Randy's debut solo album. This album also features a guest appearance by Steve Vai on the title track. The album was recognized immediately and earned a nomination for the New York Music Awards(Best New Album on an independent label) in 1995. Funk Me Tender's impressive sales in it's arena lead Randy to a lucrative record deal with Guitar Recordings. The only Bass Player ever to get signed to an all Guitar Label. During this time with Guitar Recordings Randy recorded two more solo CD's "Sammy Says Ouch" and "C.P.R" which featured an up coming guitarist named Al Pitrelli. Who has now played with the likes of Alice Cooper and Megadeath. Recording the "Sammy Says Ouch" CD Randy recalls was a simple plan we would record it like we were playing in a club and put it on a disk. It was recorded and mixed in two weeks and attracted international attention among musicians and instrumental fusion enthusiast. By this time people were beginning to take notice and Randy was able to enlist some serious players to get on board for the next self titled CD "C.P.R." (Coven-Pitrelli-Reilly) Zakk Wilde(Ozzy), Steve Morse, Vito Bratta(White Lion), Randy Jackson(Zebra), and sicko violinist Mark Wood all appeared on this CD. Zakk sang and played guitar on the Stevie Wonder tune I Wish and and appeared in the "C.P.R." video for M.T.V.(Europe). Steve Morse also played a ripping guitar solo on a track. C.P.R. got the international recognition that was unexpected, but very much appreciated "Quote from Randy." It's still amazing! No matter where I travel or with whom I play there are still fans there with C.P.R. CD's for me to sign. Sometimes it has Al's signature on it first which means he was in that particular part of the World Before Me. Hell I was in Bulgaria once, and this guy came up to me after a show and hands me a "C.P.R." CD with Al's signa- ture and I'm like "what the"! How did he get here first? Go Figure! Also, during this time with Guitar Recordings Randy recorded with several fusion and instrumental artists including Blues Scaraceno and appeared on several Guitar Recordings Compliation CD's as well as replacing Billy Sheehan for The Bass Secrets Column in Guitar Magazine. Randy still holds the record for the longest running columnist he lasted five years. Then was replaced by Stu Hamm. (Not Bad.) Although Randy was well respected by his peers and playing with the best out there. The big gig still eluded him until the day Leslie West heard the Compilation CD with Randy on it. The CD featured the likes of Steve Vai, Leslie West, etc. Leslie being the guy he is called Randy out of the blue without even hearing him play. He figured that being the only Bass player on an all Guitar Album that this guy better be good. Leslie was looking to record another solo record and reform the Group Mountain you know the one (Mississippi Queen). Randy recorded the record "Dodging the Dirt" in San Francisco and formed a friendship with Leslie then on August 21, 1997. The mighty reunion of Mountain took place (at a sold out show) at the Ritz in New York City featuring: Leslie West, Corky Laing, and Randy Coven on Bass. After the Ritz they went on to headline Show's throughout the USA andEurope and play festival's with likes of Deep Purple, Johnny Winter, Motorhead, etc. After a couple of years of being in sideman land Randy needed to return to his roots and started recording his fourth CD "WitchWay". During this time he got a call from Yngwie Malmsteen. Yngwie said he needed a Bass player right away for a world Tour to support his Alchemy CD. After listening to the CD Randy realized this is a dream gig were it would take all his chops to play the fast intricate unison and counterpoint lines the Bass would play in Yngwie's music. Were most people say "less is more." Randy says for Yngwie music, "more is more." Randy stayed with Yngwie for three world tours and during this time he also recorded with his band A.R.K. and com- pleted the "WitchWay" CD. Currently, Randy is touring doing Bass clinics and recording and touring with his new project M.C.M.(Alex Masi, Randy Coven, John Macaluso) as well as CO/writing and recording the new A.R.K. CD.
Randy has also performed and recorded with: Brain Setzer(Stray Cats) Alan Holdsworth Larry Coryell Jeff Watson(Night Ranger) Joe Lynn Turner(Deep Purple) Vivian Cambell(Def Leopard) TM Stevens Holy Mother Randy's students included some of the top bassists in the world today. Victor Baily(Weather Report, Madonna) John Myung(Dream Theater) (As of 2008) Randy is currently working on a new solo record, he also is teaching bass to new prominent students in the New York Area. His Son, Dorian will be featured as a track on his new record.

On May 26 2008, local indie-pop-punk legends Plainsunset will release “PLAINSUNSET”, their first widely distributed studio album. PLAINSUNSET is the band's self-titled fourth release, since reforming after their breakup in 2004. Drawing heavily on the influences that inspired them to make music of their own - from the more familiar U2 and New Order, to power-pop powerhouses Hey Mercedes and The Starting Line - this album boasts some of Plainsunset's most accessible music to date. From the opening strains of “Johari Window”, to the plaintive “River Song” and the hopeful, yet cynical “Children”, lead singer Jonathan Chan’s desire to relate is obvious. “Our musical approach was to aim for timeless songs. We were more open to pulling in our older influences to receive input from the timeless to create the timeless,” says the 33-year-old fine artist. For the members of Plainsunset, – Jonathan Chan (vocals and guitars), Norsham Husaini (guitars and backing vocals), Nizam Sukri (bass) and Ronny Laily (drums) all age 33, this much anticipated fourth release documents Plainsunset’s best and most consistent music to date, and is also their most adventurous, mature, and accessible studio release. The album is not just a return to form, but a reinvention of the Plainsunset sound, a tribute to the music that fuels their heart and soul. PLAINSUNSET is the sound of a band rediscovering and paying tribute to the music that originally inspired them. This album certainly charts the 12-year-old band’s steady progression to maturity and popularity. From their early days, playing to as little as 30 kids at local community centres, to touring Malaysia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and New Zealand, Plainsunset have had quite an impressive, if convoluted, history. After breaking up in 2004, they set the record for the greatest attendance in a single set at the Esplanade’s Baybeats Festival (Singapore’s biggest Indie-Alternative rock festival) with their spectacular comeback performance in 2006. Most recently, Plainsunset have made a stride into the world of commercial music, with 5 tracks from their upcoming album featured in Star World’s HEROES Season 2 promotional campaign aired earlier this year. So for those who have yet to be mesmerized by their explosive live performances, or who have yet to take notice of Plainsunset’s inspiring tunes and lyrics with a heart, now is the time; Because as the age old saying goes – “The sun will rise again”. Nosferatu is a platform game created in 1995 by Seta Corporation for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The storyline is similar to many other vampire hunter games -- a damsel has been kidnapped, and you control the protagonist who must rescue her from Nosferatu - a vampire. Many gameplay elements are borrowed from Prince of Persia. Sources[edit]198.199.152.102 (talk) 20:28, 19 June 2008 (UTC) created redirect to Seta Corporation[reply] |
