Event Description

[edit]

JUNETEENTH also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Liberation Day, or Emancipation Day. The holiday marks the emancipation of enslaved persons in The United States. As we look toward another holiday celebrating freedom, July 4th, we will document and celebrate.

This year, Black Lunch Table is hosting our BLT Photobooth Project at sites across the United States and online to document the beauty of the people and make Black artists literally visible on the internet by adding their portraits to Wikicommons.

If you are in Seattle, WA or Lawrence, KS, we hope you will stop by during the event to have your photo taken or share with someone who is. Don’t worry if you can’t make it in person, we also have details on how you can contribute online as well. See details for each city below!
