Lee Nysted

More block evasion from this banned user's sockpuppets. As can be seen from his contributions log, 67.186.123.21 has tried to push Nysted spam into the Matt Walker (drummer) article and has made other edits that suggest he is either the same person or acting as Nysted's proxy. The IP resolves to Comcast in Lake Forest, Ill., where Nysted claims to work. He claims to be 13 years sober, four months ago Nysted claimed to be 12 years sober. WhispersofWisdom is the same person.

A number of editors have popped up on the Matt Walker (drummer) page that are attempting to insert a mention of Lee Nysted's album into Walker's discography. It has been determined at AFD that Nysted and his album are non-notable, and explained to the editors involved. These editors are displaying many of the same traits as Nysted and his socks in the past. Two of the IPs resolve to a company that Nysted has claimed association with; the third resolves to Lake Forest, IL, which is also associated to Nysted. Nysted was indefinitely blocked after discussion at AN. While I suspect the use of company IPs may cause an issue with this result, I think the editors dealing with these folks' comments would appreciate a look. New sock in this case seems to have popped up. Was continually reverting the sock tag on Huntress (possibly others, didn't check), and now is fighting on my page about it. It may just be meatpuppetry, so I would like a checkuser to look at this. ✎ Peter M Dodge ( Talk to MeNeutrality Project ) 18:50, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I will obviously be recusing myself from clerk activities related to this case.

Confirmed as same IP as Huntress. Also:

  • Code letter: C (has promised to continue recreating hoaxish vanity articles), D

What appears to be blatant sockpuppetry in a hoax article is creating some seriously bad blood between valid contributors: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Lee Nysted Experience, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nysted Music. The user has a history of creating vanity articles, and his character, as seen online, is quite questionable. I would normally not have thought a checkuser necessary, but one user has strongly objected to my classification of the situation, and I'd like to clear some things up. Another one for the list, and a recusal from clerking activities since I'm submitting it.
