Welcome to the British folk rock task force of WikiProject Roots music, and WikiProject Regional and national music.

Scope

[edit]
  • The British folk rock task force covers the English-speaking and Celtic branches of British folk rock, as defined at British folk rock. It also covers other associated acts such as Pentangle (band). It does not cover Celtic punk, or general folk rock topics that are not British folk rock.

worklistlogcategory

Any articles that are within the scope of this project should be tagged with the project banners of WikiProject Roots music and WikiProject Regional and national music. You may also find {{WikiProjectBannerShell}} useful. To each of these banners, you should add british-folk-rock-task-force = yes as this will automatically put the page in the appropriate categories, such as Category:British folk rock task force articles.

The text you probably want is: {{WikiProject Roots music|class=|importance=|needs-infobox=|british-folk-rock-task-force=yes}}

The importance levels in the tagging scheme work as follows:

  • Top: The British folk rock article itself, and maybe one or two others
  • High: Festivals, the 4 important bands (cf. Britta Sweers), "Liege and Lief" album, etc
  • Mid: Most bands, a few important musicians and albums
  • Low: Individual musicians, most albums, a songs that have been covered by at least 3 of the British folk rock bands, etc

Quick article improvements

[edit]

Bands, individuals, and albums

[edit]
  • Ensure that the article is tagged and assessed (see tagging and assessment, above)
  • In many cases, the term folk rock can be changed to British folk rock (as a more precise definition). This is by no means universal, so intelligence must be applied.
  • Add some more headings
Item Bands Individuals Albums
Ensure that the article is in the appropriate category (or subcategories) Category:British folk rock groups Category:British folk rock musicians Category:British folk rock albums
Ensure that the article has an infobox {{Infobox Musical artist}} {{Infobox Musical artist}} {{Infobox Album}}
Other
  • If the related bands have templates, include these on the page
  • If the related band has a template, include it on the page
  • Song names can often be turned into links (if there's already an article on the song)

Songs

[edit]
  • Most British folk rock songs are folk songs played in this style, and thus no special suggestions could be applicable
