The Life of David Hume, Esq. (1777)
by David Hume

This is a transcription of the first edition of a brief autobiography, written by Hume in 1776, during the illness that killed him. It was published posthumously and includes a letter from Adam Smith to the publisher describing Hume's demeanour during his last illness and death. This was a matter of some interest at the time, given Hume's views on religion and the immortality of the soul.
