Treasure Island first appeared in serial form in the children's magazine 'Young Folks' from 1st October 1881 to 28th January 1882, as the work of ‘Captain George North.’ Stevenson originally titled it "The Sea Cook" but it was changed to "Treasure Island, or the mutiny of the Hispaniola" by the magazine's editor.
