Spanish 1

Are you the anonymous user with all the tremendous enthusiasm going into Spanish 1? If so, many thanks. But I have a question. Can you tell me where this material is coming from? For example, I found an exact copy of one paragraph at http://www.esmiplaneta.com/countries/guatamala.htm. Did you know that you aren't supposed to copy copyrighted material onto Wikiversity? Do you need some help with working out what you can and cannot copy? Please reply on my talk page. --McCormack 04:27, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

I don't know, I got it of Wikipedia. I that case, oops you can swiggle the paragraph around to not make it look precise. [Allioshida]

The question then would be "who got the text passages first?". Did Esmiplaneta copy the material from Wikipedia, or the other way round? Either way, can you please give precise sources for all this material - i.e. URL's of whichever pages you are using the copy material from. This is a great resource, and it would be a great shame if it fell foul of anti-copyright-violation policies. --McCormack 05:03, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

I've looked at this further. Copying short sections from Wikipedia is fine, although strictly speaking you should note this fact somewhere. I think it is rather likely that Esmiplaneta violated Wikipedia's copyright, rather than the other way round, so we don't need to worry too much right now. Featuring your work

Spanish subpages

Hopefully you won't be alarmed at my changes to Spanish 1. The page was so large that I have broken it up into "subpages" following your chapter breaks. I've also created a provisional table of contents - feel free to reformat it! If you look at Wikiversity:Featured (list of featured projects), you'll see that subpages are a normal thing. In fact the average featured project has almost 100 subpages! --McCormack 04:24, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
