Welcome to Wikidata, RogerNiceEyes!

Wikidata is a free knowledge base that you can edit! It can be read and edited by humans and machines alike and you can go to any item page now and add to this ever-growing database!

Need some help getting started? Here are some pages you can familiarize yourself with:

  • Introduction – An introduction to the project.
  • Wikidata tours – Interactive tutorials to show you how Wikidata works.
  • Community portal – The portal for community members.
  • User options – including the 'Babel' extension, to set your language preferences.
  • Contents – The main help page for editing and using the site.
  • Project chat – Discussions about the project.
  • Tools – A collection of user-developed tools to allow for easier completion of some tasks.

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask on Project chat. If you want to try out editing, you can use the sandbox to try. Once again, welcome, and I hope you quickly feel comfortable here, and become an active editor for Wikidata.

Best regards!

Editing too fast

[edit]

Please stick to running one batch at a time. The lag is going through the roof so batch jobs should not take so much resources. Multichill (talk) 09:57, 17 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Adding this subject makes no sense

[edit]

Can you check this and be sure that the mistake isn't elsewhere? https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q104871418&oldid=1405293165

This whole batch is in error. https://quickstatements.toolforge.org/#/batch/53177 Please resolve. Trilotat (talk) 19:58, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

RogerNiceEyes, please respond to the message above. Failing to respond to concerns about batch imports generally leads to a block. I see you're currently editing so I'll give you a day to respond before I apply it. Multichill (talk) 10:39, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted that straight away, my error in the Q number, I assure you it's not vandalism RogerNiceEyes (talk) 10:48, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I saw the prompt fix, but didn’t follow up to close my concern. Apologies to RogerNiceEyes. I certainly didn’t mean to cause such scrutiny. Thanks for resolving it so quickly. Trilotat (talk) 17:25, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

more care when adding main subject

[edit]

This edit is wrong: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q24337585&diff=1402190899&oldid=1394980623 Your mistake is assuming that everything with "tuberculosis" is about the disease "tuberculosis" but here, "Mycobacterium tuberculosis" is the bacterium not the disease. If I see more of these thoughtlessnesses I'll advocate for a block of your bot. --SCIdude (talk) 14:58, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding main subjects on scholarly articles

[edit]

I just want to tip you about my new tool ItemSubjector which helps link together topics and scholarly articles. See also this session in WikidataCon about this ongoing work.--So9q (talk) 09:55, 29 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
