Items for user pages

[edit]

Hi Yejianfei! I just wanted to let you know that I deleted an item Q14551692 that you had created for your user page links. On Wikidata, items cannot be created for user pages (according to WD:Notability). Thanks, The Anonymouse (talk) 05:12, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unnotable pages

[edit]

Hello, please do not create items including links to template subpages. Per Wikidata:Notability they do not have place here in Wikidata. Thank you. Matěj Suchánek (talk) 11:47, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand, please give me the wrong example. --Yejianfei (talk) 18:25, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Cousins

[edit]

Hi Yejianfei,

It's old, but I just noticed your comment on Talk:Q76666 when working on Wikidata:WikiProject Parenthood/lists/kinship types.

This lead me to Q10930507. It would be great if we had items for Chinese family/kinship/relationship terms. Even if they don't have an English label, descriptions in English were most helpful. I could then try to add statements based on that. If items already exist, they would show they had instance of (P31).

There are two different pages for 表親 (maternal cousin) and 堂亲 (paternal cousin) in Chinese Wikipedia. How should I link? --Yejianfei (talk) 17:59, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'd make a new item. Even for terms without a separate article in zhwiki, it's worth making new items. Ideally they should be linked from other items or have external links describing them.
--- Jura 18:02, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Then we need two different pages in Wikidata, namely Q10930507 (堂親, paternal cousin) and Q42298986 (表親, maternal cousin). --Yejianfei (talk) 18:34, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe we need additional items, as "maternal cousin" might not include father's sisters children. I just found https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/paternal_cousin and https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/maternal_cousin which has Chinese translations. I think for some we might already have items.
--- Jura 19:05, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
So maybe "pure masculine cousin" and "non-pure masculine cousin" for translation from 堂親 and 表親 respectively? That sucks. --Yejianfei (talk) 19:07, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, Chinese can be very accurate in kinship.

  • 堂哥 father's brother's son who is older than oneself
  • 堂弟 father's brother's son who is younger than oneself
  • 堂姐 father's brother's daughter who is older than oneself
  • 堂妹 father's brother's daughter who is younger than oneself

    • 姑表哥 father's sister's son who is older than oneself
    • 舅表哥 mother's brother's son who is older than oneself
    • 姨表哥 mother's sister's son who is older than oneself
    • 姑表弟 father's sister's son who is younger than oneself
    • 舅表弟 mother's brother's son who is younger than oneself
    • 姨表弟 mother's sister's son who is younger than oneself
    • 姑表姐 father's sister's daughter who is older than oneself
    • 舅表姐 mother's brother's daughter who is older than oneself
    • 姨表姐 mother's sister's daughter who is older than oneself
    • 姑表妹 father's sister's daughter who is younger than oneself
    • 舅表妹 mother's brother's daughter who is younger than oneself
    • 姨表妹 mother's sister's daughter who is younger than oneself

Chinese terms for kinship are always extremely accurate. Not only for "cousins", but also for uncles and aunts, and even uncles-in-law and aunts-in-law. There are different terms for different types of uncles, aunts, uncles-in-law and aunts-in-law, namely

Formal Informal Meaning
伯母 (use the formal term) father's elder brother's wife
姑夫 (use the formal term) father's sister's husband
姨夫 (use the formal term) mother's sister's husband

Also, accurate terms for grandparents and grandchildren.

Formal Informal Meaning
外祖父 外公 or 姥爷/姥爺 maternal grandfather (mother's father)
外祖母 外婆 or 姥姥 maternal grandmother (mother's mother)
孙子/孫子 (use the formal term) paternal grandson (son's son)
孙女/孫女 (use the formal term) paternal granddaughter (son's daughter)
外孙/外孫 (use the formal term) maternal grandson (daughter's son)
外孙女/外孫女 (use the formal term) maternal granddaughter (daughter's daughter)

We do have:

Maybe they can go on these. BTW, the list is updated daily by bot (there is a link on the right top corner to update it on demand).

I just made Q42302285. I will try to follow your format.
