Matsumae (松前町, Matsumae-chō) adalah sebuah kota yang terletak di Subprefektur Oshima, Hokkaido, Jepang. di wilayah kota yang dulunya merupakan bekasa wilayah Matsumae Han ini terdapat sebuah istana yang didirikan pada Zaman Edo, yaitu Istana Matsumae, yang merupakan satu-satunya istana yang ada di wilayah Hokkaido, dan Kuil Ryūun-in.

Per 30 November 2023, kota ini memiliki estimasi jumlah penduduk sebesar 6.045 jiwa dan kepadatan penduduk sebesar 20,61 orang per km2.Kota ini memiliki luas wilayah sebesar 293,25 kilometer persegi (113,22 sq mi).

Geografi

Wilayah kota ini terletak di ujung selatan Semenanjung Matsumae. Wilayah kota ini juga meliputi dua pulau yang ada di Selat Tsugaru, yaitu Ōshima dan Kojima.[1]

Bersama dengan wilayah Kaminokuni dan Fukushima, wilayah Matsumae berbatasan dengan Gunung Daisengen, dan memiliki jalur pendakian terbaru dan tersingkat untuk menuju ke puncak gunung ini.[2]
