The associated page is used by the MediaWiki Spam Blacklist extension, and lists regular expressions which cannot be used in URLs in any page in Wikimedia Foundation projects (as well as many external wikis). Any Meta administrator can edit the spam blacklist; either manually or with SBHandler. For more information on what the spam blacklist is for, and the processes used here, please see Spam blacklist/About.

Proposed additions
Please provide evidence of spamming on several wikis. Spam that only affects a single project should go to that project's local blacklist. Exceptions include malicious domains and URL redirector/shortener services. Please follow this format. Please check back after submitting your report, there could be questions regarding your request.
Proposed removals
Please check our list of requests which repeatedly get declined. Typically, we do not remove domains from the spam blacklist in response to site-owners' requests. Instead, we de-blacklist sites when trusted, high-volume editors request the use of blacklisted links because of their value in support of our projects. Please consider whether requesting whitelisting on a specific wiki for a specific use is more appropriate - that is very often the case.
Other discussion
Troubleshooting and problems - If there is an error in the blacklist (i.e. a regex error) which is causing problems, please raise the issue here.
Discussion - Meta-discussion concerning the operation of the blacklist and related pages, and communication among the spam blacklist team.
#wikimedia-external-linksconnect - Real-time IRC chat for co-ordination of activities related to maintenance of the blacklist.
Whitelists
There is no global whitelist, so if you are seeking a whitelisting of a url at a wiki then please address such matters via use of the respective Mediawiki talk:Spam-whitelist page at that wiki, and you should consider the use of the template {{edit protected}} or its local equivalent to get attention to your edit.

Please sign your posts with ~~~~ after your comment. This leaves a signature and timestamp so conversations are easier to follow.

Completed requests are marked as {{added}}/{{removed}} or {{declined}}, and are generally archived quickly. Additions and removals are logged · current log 2024/08.

SpBot archives all sections tagged with {{Section resolved|1=~~~~}} after 7 days and sections whose most recent comment is older than 15 days.

Proposed additions

This section is for proposing that a website be blacklisted; add new entries at the bottom of the section, using the basic URL so that there is no link (example.com, not http://www.example.com). Provide links demonstrating widespread spamming by multiple users on multiple wikis. Completed requests will be marked as {{added}} or {{declined}} and archived.

Some multiple sites

Domain controlled by foundation-banned individuals, the use of mediawiki suggests that they can log visitors' IP, UA, etc. Also per January's spam blacklist discussion.--1233 T / C 06:33, 15 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

@1233 Sorry if this is obvious, but can you please clarify why do you think those domains are controlled by WMF-banned individuals? Martin Urbanec (talk) 18:27, 15 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
@User:Martin Urbanec, their Chinese ICP beian (Chinese license of sites) point to a company which is 35% controlled by Walter Grassroot and 20% controlled by Techyan. Another note: they're using the things more than www so all bans need to be equal to *.qiuwen.net.cn or similar. Proposed additions (Bot reported)

This section is for domains which have been added to multiple wikis as observed by a bot.

These are automated reports, please check the records and the link thoroughly, it may report good links! For some more info, see Spam blacklist/Help#COIBot_reports. Reports will automatically be archived by the bot when they get stale (less than 5 links reported, which have not been edited in the last 7 days, and where the last editor is COIBot).

Sysops
  • If the report contains links to less than 5 wikis, then only add it when it is really spam
  • Otherwise just revert the link-additions, and close the report; closed reports will be reopened when spamming continues
  • To close a report, change the LinkStatus template to closed ({{LinkStatus|closed}})
  • Please place any notes in the discussion section below the HTML comment

The LinkWatchers report domains meeting the following criteria:

  • When a user mainly adds this link, and the link has not been used too much, and this user adds the link to more than 2 wikis
  • When a user mainly adds links on one server, and links on the server have not been used too much, and this user adds the links to more than 2 wikis
  • If ALL links are added by IPs, and the link is added to more than 1 wiki
  • If a small range of IPs have a preference for this link (but it may also have been added by other users), and the link is added to more than 1 wiki.

Proposed removals

This section is for proposing that a website be unlisted; please add new entries at the bottom of the section. Use a suitable 3rd level heading and display the domain name as per this example {{LinkSummary|targetdomain.com}}.

Remember to provide the specific domain blacklisted, links to the articles they are used in or useful to, and arguments in favour of unlisting. Completed requests will be marked as {{removed}} or {{declined}} and archived.

See also recurring requests for repeatedly proposed (and refused) removals.

Notes:

  • The addition or removal of a domain from the blacklist is not a vote; please do not bold the first words in statements.
  • This page is for the removal of domains from the global blacklist, not for removal of domains from the blacklists of individual wikis. For those requests please take your discussion to the pertinent wiki, where such requests would be made at Mediawiki talk:Spam-blacklist at that wiki. Search spamlists — remember to enter any relevant language code

onani.xyz

Onani is an imageboard website which can be a candidate for use on English Wikipedia's Imageboard page, it is blacklisted because the TLD is .xyz, an alternative domain to it is onani.gay

Declined Not present in the blacklist. Martin Urbanec (talk) 18:47, 15 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
.xyz is blacklisted by English Wikipedia. The external links guideline and "What Wikipedia is not" policy advise not to add links such as this, as the sections are not intended as directories of sites. Peter James (talk) 19:38, 21 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

respect-mag.com

Couldn't find an archived reason why Respect magazine was added to the meta blacklist. It's an independent reliable source, with its own article at English wiki. I was looking to source a media article with a Respect magazine citation, and I'm sure others in music/hip hop fields could use it as a source as well. -- Wikipedical (talk) 02:32, 19 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thanks pinging the users. Not much at those diffs specifically about Respect mag, but appreciate the context. I would be using it as a supplementary source, not creating brand new articles as the discussion previously cautioned. -- Wikipedical (talk) 17:22, 24 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Galatta.com

Importantly, the site offers comprehensive coverage of Indian cinema - and has done so for 22+ years! It would be fantastic to whitelist the site so several sources from the early 2000s can be used for old film articles (most coverage of Indian cinema online emerged post-2006) - this really is a goldmine to save some undersourced articles. It offers nothing significantly different in quality to other film sites.

In recent times, Galatta has also brought in big name critics such as Baradwaj Rangan to work with them. They even have their own magazine. Neutral Fan (talk) 10:03, 14 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Neutral Fan:  Declined, see discussions linked here, there are community discussions regarding banning of dot com websites. Just ask for whitelisting of specific links if they are needed, but I do not expect that there will be community consensus to have this used liberally. blackwell-synergy.com

This was added as the result of Steward requests/Miscellaneous/2020-08#Hijacked domain and predatory spam. There are still talk pages with these links and it blocks archiving. Wiley (the owner of Blackwell) now has control of the domain and the URLs now all redirect to https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/ and whois says "Registrant Org: John Wiley & Sons Limited" which is the UK subsidiary of Wiley. Peter James (talk) 16:09, 21 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Peter James if all it is that they block archiving then please disable the links (remove the 'https:/' from any link that has them, as we normally do for disabling external link that hinder archiving. Dirk Beetstra T C (en: U, T) 05:37, 24 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Unnecessary as there's now no reason for it to be blocked (unless you're thinking of blocking all wiley.com domains). Also disabling an external link in a template causes an error. Peter James (talk) 18:14, 24 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Peter James: Removed Removed from Spam blacklist. Previously blocked solely due to capture and abuse, now a redirect to wiley.com which seems appropriate and no requirement for blacklisting  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:35, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

qadrishattari.xyz

Want to create Fazl-e-Haq Khairabadi in Turkey wikipedia, Russian wikipedia and others and I find www.qadrishattari.xyz/p/fazl-e-haq-khairabadi.html as a useful source for this article please whitelist it. Many thanks. 2401:4900:54E5:EC84:0:0:C27:13FC 11:10, 22 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Declined, first, no, you don't need this to start a page, nor is this suitable in any form to use on that page. Then the whole .xyz TLD is blacklisted so we cannot de-list any domain on that anyway. Then this website was excessively abused on en.wikipedia when it was whitelisted for a single use (and hence de-listed), so I would also advise strongly against local whitelisting of this domain. Find proper sources and use those. Dirk Beetstra T C (en: U, T) 05:34, 24 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
It was not abused at all at English Wikipedia but all were good faith contributions and were made per wikipedia bold and many times talk page notes were given which are already available [1] [2]. Even I see Beetstra, you was pinged by an Ip on their talk page to check their contributions regarding link additions with a commitment to remove the spammy one if any and yes you have checked that and took no action since there was no spam. 2401:4900:52FD:FB7E:ADD1:453E:C898:FBC8 09:37, 24 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
This page is clearly useful www.qadrishattari.xyz/p/fazl-e-haq-khairabadi.html to create Fazle Haq Khairabadi as I will be copying and translating de.wikipedia article on Fazle-e-Haq-Khairabdi. 2401:4900:52FD:FB7E:ADD1:453E:C898:FBC8 09:41, 24 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
It was independently removed from the whitelist .. suggests that I wrongfully whitelisted it, and did not evaluate enough edits. Dirk Beetstra T C (en: U, T) 10:38, 24 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Beetstra: Can you please check again if it was spammed after your whitelisting because I can see all were good faith and constructive edits to help the project with several talk page notes to clarify the additions instead of gamed spamming. 2401:4900:52FD:FB7E:ADD1:453E:C898:FBC8 10:41, 24 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
It was delisted after my whitelisting because of the problems. Anyway, we can't do anyting here, the whole TLD is blacklisted, you have to get it whitelisted locally. Dirk Beetstra T C (en: U, T) 10:39, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Realitylink there are some SBL logs [3] but this url is neither blacklisted globally [4] nor locally [5] and is in fact used multiple times across different wikis [6].

This site seems like a pretty innocuous music review website that also features interviews with musicians (which are very useful primary sources, imho). Is there a reason it's blocked?--Gen. Quon (talk) 13:27, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
