Wide Cyrillic font spacing on some systems in Android App

Description

List of steps to reproduce (step by step, including full links if applicable):

  • Go to Japanese Wikipedia article on Russia in Android App
  • Observe Cyrillic font of Russian language texts that have been tagged as such in the article source through Template:lang|ru

What happens?:
Fullwidth font of the Cyrillic characters appeared, as is common in Cyrillic character set in Japanese font package, reducing readibility.

What should have happened instead?:
Cyrillic font should be called and display the text normally, just like when viewing the page via browser.

Software version (if not a Wikimedia wiki), browser information, screenshots, other information, etc.:
Wikipedia Android App 2.7.50388-r-2021-12-02
Sony Xperia 10 III official Android 11 software version.

I assume this is about ロシア (please always provide links / text that allows to reproduce). Cannot reproduce in Android 10, so I do not think that this is anything that the Wikipedia app itself can influence, but it is up to the fonts installed on your system instead:

It absolutely depends on installed font, as I mentioned in the original description. When the content have been tagged with appropriate language, and when the device have multiple fonts installed, it is the responsibility of software to call up appropriate font for display. As indicated by the success of web browser on my device, this is something that regular web browser have supported but Wikipedia apps have not.
