The history o the aurie begins wi the Tlatilica who settled on the edges o the Hondo River atween 1700 an 600 B.C.E., but it wis the Aztecs who gave it its current name when they dominatit it frae the 15t century till the Spainyie conquest o the Aztec Empire. Naucalpan claims tae be the aurie whaur Hernán Cortés restit on the “Noche Triste” as they fled Tenochtitlan in 1520, but this is disputit.[2] It is the hame o the Virgin o Los Remedios, a sma image o the Virgin Mary which is strangly associatit wi the Conquest an is said tae hae been left here.[3] The day, the ceety o Naucalpan is actually lairger than the municipality itsel, wi pairt o it extendin intae neebourin Huixquilucan Municipality. It is a major centre o industrie in Mexico. It is, housomeivver, best kent as the location o Ciudad Satélite, a development frae the 1960s an the steid o the Toreo de Cuatro Caminos bullring, which wis recently demolisht.[1][4] The anerlie unurbanisit auries o the municipality are the Los Remedios Naitional Pairk an a nummer o ejidos, housomeivver, the lack o hoosin haes put serious pressur on these auries.[5][6]
