''The goth subculture is very misunderstood. Many people make up stories about the goths because of the way the look or act. Goths dont worship death. They just arent afraid of it. It doesnt mean goths are suicidal either. Most goths enjoy life and what it offers. Goths just try to be themselves and who they are just like everybody else does. They just do it differently. Most goths also dont worship satin. Again they just arent afraid of him. Some goths are non religious but also others are and some even try to find their own way of religion. sometimes that includes satanism but on rare occasions. but all goths are very open minded about all sorts of new things and most are very friendly and normal.

New York City goth band The Naked and the Dead (1985).

A goth is a person who listens to gothic rock music. Goths often wear black clothes and unusual jewelry. Both goth men and goth women often wear make-up.

Goth came from the word Golgotha which actually means skull place. People who call themselves a Goth are those who live up the meaning of the name through anything that may represent death such as those with the color black, deathly white, bloody red.

Goth people also make and listen to Goth music.
