Requests for page protection/unprotection could also be requested here.	Other reports that require administrator assistance which do not fit in any of the previous three noticeboards may be reported here. Requests for history merging or splitting should be filed at COM:HMS.

Short caption abuse filter

The edits marked by the short caption abuse filter are mostly bad and become reverted in approximately 80-90% of checked cases. As of this I would suggest to enable a warning on this abuse filter. The message could be MediaWiki:Abusefilter-warning-short-caption. Are there any objections? --GPSLeo (talk) 13:30, 17 May 2022 (UTC)

Does this very small filter needs a link to the reporting page? It is just a warning if the short caption is fine they can just safe the edit. --GPSLeo (talk) 15:06, 17 May 2022 (UTC)

Loophole: Blocked users able to upload files through FileImporter

Thanks to Smooth O for reporting this at VP/T: There's a blocked user uploading files to commons by uploading to another project first and then using FileImporter to import them here. I don't think that should be allowed or even possible. Bug report has been filed, but I'm not sure how to proceed from here. El Grafo (talk) 08:44, 20 May 2022 (UTC)

@CptViraj Yes, of course, that explains it! That raises a few questions, though:

• Do we accept material from blocked users if it is being imported by a trusted user?
• If yes: Should there be a warning along the lines of "caution, you're importing something uploaded by a user that's blocked on Commons"?
• If no: do we need technical measures to prevent that from happening again?

@El Grafo: Evidently, we do accept it. Such a warning would be helpful. A proposal at COM:VPP would be needed to prevent accepting it, and I'm not sure we have the technical means to implement such a proposal.   — Jeff G. ツ _{please ping or talk to me} 09:35, 20 May 2022 (UTC)

I don't think we need to reject these kinds of imports. Let's see if we can get that warning message. Maybe we should also consider having a bot collect them in some kind of "to check" maintenance category? El Grafo (talk) 10:03, 20 May 2022 (UTC)

Hellou. I am an administrator on the Serbo-Croatian Wikipedia project and we have a policy to not host PD images on the project. Now, I did not know that Vrtleska25 had been blocked on Commons, which is why I uploaded several of his photographs I deemed appropriate. These files meet Commons' standards, as far as I know, and they shouldn't be problematic per se. Now, if it is an issue that they are Vrtleska's photos, then, well, I shall stop uploading them if it is an issue, but since the images truly are both useful and in accordance with Commons' terms, I don't see why they should not be uploaded here. The user is blocked because too many unfree files were uploaded. I do not think it is a problem that the files are moved to Commons if local admins check the files before they are moved.

Actually I think we have unblocked users that have uploaded more copyvios that this user so if user asked for an unblock that might happen if you ask me. --MGA73 (talk) 19:53, 22 May 2022 (UTC)

Can we join multiple deletion requests into one?

An IP user, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/220.246.171.244 made something like 50 separate deletion requests for images from OneNews Malaysia, a Malaysian television station, on the grounds that its YouTube channel has been blocked. They're all in Commons:Deletion requests/2022/05/23. I think they're wrong, as described in Commons:Deletion_requests/File:Fikry_Ibrahim_for_"Go_Eat".jpg, but in any case, is there a way we can group all these deletion requests into one, so we can discuss them all together? --GRuban (talk) 13:14, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
