Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Renaming File:Swimming pool of the Titanic.jpg

Hi, I'm not doubting that the information provided to you on this facebook group is correct, but it would be useful if you or they provided some kind of verifiable reference that we can add to the files so that when someone comes along in 10 years, and asks why these were renamed all the time the source reference says it's the Titanic, we can point to a source which verifies that this is indeed the Olympic and not Titanic. Hi, TommyG, I understand it. If you allow me, I have contacted with a Wikipedia user who knows and is linked to the Encyclopedia Titanica's group, and he has sent me a screenshot of the experts' conversation on the subject, as there were also some members of that group who thought that there were no real images of the Titanic's pool, and in the screenshot, the experts solve this doubt indicating the difference between the Olympic's and the Titanic's pool, as well as publish an authentic image of the Titanic's pool. Request for Unblock

This blocked user has asked to be unblocked.

Request reason: "I'm interested to claim my unblocking because, although it is true that I know HefePine23 (talk · contribs) and I live with he, we were two different people, specifically, we are brothers, who both were interested to contribute for help this project. I know that my brother had cometted some errors with licenses (and I bring a message from him that he apologizes himself for that and promises for not return never.), but I don't understand the decission to block me "in situ" and, no request for deletion my photos like in the case of my brother, directly delete all.

The 95% of my photos, which contain is about Titanic, her sister ships and other vessels of that time, are clearly in public domain, with their author, Robert Welch, and deathyear known. Also, there are some pictures colourised by myself and I don't no why can't upload them while are other user's similar works and with them it doesn't matter. Although, I know that I am not considered welcome to this project anyway.

This is only an objective comment that I wish to share with you. And also, in conclussion, I would like to present two requests to the administrators:

•First, that my Sockpuppet tag be removed from my brother's account, HefePine23, and I beg that I be allowed again to post images from my Flickr account, which I created to post my own works and as well as historical images that They have caught my attention and that I think they could positively help the Wikimedia projects. I can assure you that, even if I may have made a mistake (which I deeply regret in those cases), my goal is, as most of the members of this group share, to improve their reliability. The second request, if it is possible, that all the files that I have uploaded during all these months be restored in Commons. Of course, there may be some files that don't have any evidence on their verifiability posted, but if I was allowed to go back and reactivate my Commons account, as well as my Flickr account, I could help myself with the work of collecting reliable sources that support it, and if that is not the case, I would request myself the deletion of the image or the images that they require from said sources. So, with this, I'm about to collaborate with the admins on the revision work, and I am at your entire disposal in terms of improving these projects for the better.

Please, I beg you to consider it and regardless of what you decide on my case, I would like to be informed, since when I was blocked and my files deleted, I was not notified until shortly after these events had already taken place. Again I add, I don't care if you don't consider me suitable to collaborate with this group, but I would ask you to inform me, since I have felt as if all my effort of more than six months has not served any purpose. I appreciate the understanding and I await your verdict, which I trust can now be carried out in an objective and fair manner. All kind regards for you.
