When I saw this used on a file page, I was mystified as to it's meaning. After scratching my head, I decided that it meant hide/show the associated content. Replacing with a more appropriate symbol

In 18 years of website development, I've never before seen "+/-" used to mean "edit". "+/-" has 2 recognized meanings:

  1. uncertainty range
  2. relative score statistic in sports
