The Japanese Wikipedia

As seen in this discussion, we have concluded that the Japanese Wikipedia should avoid vector versions of Steamboat Willie because the copyright law is very different from that in the US. The film is public domain in Japan, but there is a small but non-negligible possibility that the copyright of the character design of Micky Mouse has not yet expired in Japan. To avoid this small legal risk, the Japanese Wikipedia only uses images extracted from the film, and does not use images which look more like the 'character design' of Mickey Mouse.
