Edit kind: attempt at adding SDC: source of file (P7482) = Flickr (Q103204); automated filter "has identified this edit as potentially unconstructive", even though it's a valid edit, as this file is in the category Flickr images missing SDC source of file

Hi, and welcome. I am sorry to inform you that you have triggered Special:AbuseFilter/265 by three times trying to change a structured data file metadata source (P7482). Such edits by new and anonymous users are considered by Admins like GPSLeo to be probable vandalism and therefore disallowed.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 10:18, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

@TornadoLGS: Hi, and welcome. I am sorry to inform you that you have triggered Special:AbuseFilter/303 by trying to fight vandalism in SDC. Such edits by new and anonymous users are considered to be vandalism. Until phab:T298672 is resolved or an Admin can adjust that filter to be like Special:AbuseFilter/265 as GPSLeo did, please do not try to revert vandalism in structured data on Commons as a new or anonymous user, just report it to COM:ANV.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 13:38, 6 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
@TornadoLGS I looked at your contributions and granted you the needed autopatrol rights. GPSLeo (talk) 14:06, 6 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Edit kind: I'm trying to create an article but this filter keeps not letting me do it

@Gorkong: Wikimedia Commons is for multimedia content. Articles should go to Wikipedia in the respective language. Yann (talk) 10:37, 6 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Yann: I know that. But I'm trying to create a article with multimedia content. Gorkong (talk) 10:45, 6 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Gorkong: That's the same. You can write an article in Wikipedia and include content from Commons. Yann (talk) 10:56, 6 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Update Cross-wiki upload filter (# 153)

To implement Commons:Village_pump/Proposals#Deactivate_cross-wiki_uploads_for_new_users, I think the following would be needed:

As you haven't uploaded several files to Wikimedia Commons before, please use Special:UploadWizard. The Wizard will walk you through the process.
If you consider uploading a company logo, please read our introduction about logos.

This huge change needs to be announced to the other Wikis first. GPSLeo (talk) 17:00, 7 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ideally, it needs changes there too. Do you know which messages need to be updated there? Enhancing999 (talk) 17:02, 7 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think the m:Tech/News newsletter would be the best place to inform everyone. For the filter it would be better to just hide the cross-wiki upload feature for those who do not have the right to use it. GPSLeo (talk) 17:29, 7 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Well, changes need to be done in the interface there too. At Wikipedia, it should be possible to limit the number users who see the feature, but can't use it, but it's not entirely possible to handle it on (say) enwiki, as enwiki doesn't know if the user has uploaded to Commons or not. Enhancing999 (talk) 17:33, 7 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Where was it announced that the feature would even be available?   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 00:47, 8 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
