(moved from unfulfilled requests (where I posted it originally), this is the same situation as the request two sections up #Bstone to something else)

I am en:user:MTC, and I have unified my account, except for 3 wikis where another person registered MTC before I could. This is one of those three wikis where user:MTC isn't currently my account, so I am requesting that the current user:MTC on commons is renamed in order to clear the conflict with my global account.

It is clearly better for me to post this as an IP rather than create an account, as this will avoid the problem of bugzilla:13507. - en:user:MTC 11:43, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wait, if he does not have an account here yet, better not creating one, because due to bug 13507 an account can't be renamed to a global username (he has SUL activated), there is no fix for this bug right now just a 'hack' to delete the global account and then rename and then activating it again, but due to 14330 global accounts with automatic account creations should not be deleted because the automatic ones could get lost and then block the remerging, ;( best regards, --birdy geimfyglið _{(:> )=|} ∇ 08:29, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could you just add a note on http://et.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kasutaja:Suwa stating that you have this account now on Commons? Sorry for the late reply. I have renamed "Suwa" to "Suwa2"; I cannot rename "Suwatest" to "Suwa" because "Suwa" is a global account (yours), so you should be able to login again using the "Suwa" global name. If you want to have "Suwatest" moved to "Suwa", you will have to request deletion of the global account, then I can rename it (there is a bug preventing bureaucrats renaming an account to an already existing global account). Hello, it will not be possible to rename an account to an already existing global account. Please go to meta:Steward requests/SUL requests and request global user acount deletion; also, add a crosslink to your userpage on he.wiki to confirm you are Lior here on Commons. To do this got to your home wiki (de wp) and on your user page there make an edit stating something along the lines of "I am user:Despairing on Commons and I confirm I want to change my name to my name on this wiki". If you then go to the "history" of your talk page and "compare" the edit with the previous one you will have the "diff" (difference). Copy the url from your browser and post that here. Dear all, I have a small problem regarding SUL. On all other wikis except commons my Username is Meisterkoch. Only here my old username is Stephkoch. My homewiki is de:WP. We're currently not doing usurpations of accounts with useful contributions. However, we may have to change this soon. So, I'll move this request to the unfulfilled requests for now, but keep in mind we will do something about this in the near future. Well, the outcome was very favourable! The user replied me really quickly and said he didn't mind at all to give up the username. I have just asked him if he has any preference for the new username, and I'll proceed to rename as you suggested if he's ok with that. Bear in mind that it would be wise to put a note on your userpage saying that "Meisterkock", before this date, was user Meisterkoch1 (or whatever it will be), and that the images attributions for this user will also have to be manually changed. OK, I have renamed "Meisterkoch" to "Meisterkoch1" and changed attribution on his images to reflect this; I cannot rename your present account to "Meisterkoch" because bureaucrats are unable to rename an account to an existing global username. I think it means you have already tried to activate SUL as Extraordinary? Hello, I'm afraid what you are requesting is not technically possible. It is not possible to merge contributions from different accounts. Also, we do not have means to check your e-mail adress(es), but even if we did, that still would not help. I just created a SUL from my dewiki login. I noticed that there is ab independent 'gms' user at commons - but which has no edits so far (see also http://toolserver.org/~vvv/sulutil.php?user=gms for the sul-util output).

You don't have to rename my 'old' 'bgw'@commons account - it only has 1-2 edits, and I only created it, because 'gms'@commons was already in use. The local 'gms'@commons has 0 edits and someone else created it.

I am just happy if you rename/delete the 'commons-local' 'gms'@commons user name, because it has no edits, such that I will be able to use my unfied/SUL 'gms' login for commons, too.

Hi! I'm the owner of hu:Szerkesztő:AsgardBot from Hungarian Wikipedia (it has near 90k edits there). I've registered it here a long time ago to test the image moving of pywiki (see Special:Contributions/AsgardBot), and I did not used it since. Recently I make a SUL for AsgardBot, but I've forgotten the password for this commons account. As I've not registered an e-mail address for it, so I can't get a temporary password. Can somebody rename it? What is the practice in these cases? (copying from huwiki proves that this account is mine, as in pywikipedia I have to log in to both wikis to use it's features, and the one in huwiki is definetly mine, see [23] :) ) I want to use AsgardBot to move free licensed images from Hungarian Wikipedia (as nobody does it). This is a rare combination of a decent contributive editor and inappropriately chosen username. :-) Datigotura is a moderate obscenity in Bulgarian language, sort of Fuck you.

I discussed the matter on his talk page where he declared that he's bg:User:Подпоручикъ - a fact that is well supported by the local contributions of both accounts. He explained the choice of a different username for Commons with the fear that cyrillic usernames are not allowed here. I advised him about the advantages of single user login and got his consent to have this inappropriate username Datigotura renamed to Подпоручикъ (meaning Second Lieutenant in Bulgarian, should be okay).
