According to Wikipedia's policy for non-free content, the amount of copyrighted work used under fair use should be as little as possible. In particular, non-free media on Wikipedia should not be usable as substitutes for the original work. A high-resolution non-free image is questionable fair use and may be deleted per Wikipedia's copyright policy.
In most cases, this reduction will occur automatically: simply wait a while and a bot will resize the image file according to the guideline at WP:IMAGERES. When an automatic reduction does not occur or a manual reduction is desired, the size of an image may be reduced in an image editing program or by saving and re-uploading a suitably sized thumbnail. Once a reduced version of this file has been uploaded: Please replace this template with {{subst:orphaned non-free revisions}} (through source edit) or {{orphaned non-free revisions|date=7 August 2024}} (through VisualEditor or Twinkle). |

Fair Use Rationale for Jane Frank
This image is from a low-resolution photo, reduced in scale, of a photo reproduced on page 3 of Thomas Yoseloff's (now long out of print) 1975 exhibition catalogue entitled "Jane Frank: a Retrospective Exhibition" (pub. 1975, A. S. Barnes) for Jane Frank's 1975 solo retrospective exhibition at Towson College. On page 2 of the book, there is a note that reads: "Photographers who have contributed work for this catalogue and slides: The Holmes I. Mettee Studio, Inc.; Morton Tadder Associates; Allen Polansky, Photography; Barbara Young, Photographer". This image is clearly necessary for the article's discussion of Jane Frank's life and work. The fact that the photo is reduced in size and quality and furthermore not available anywhere else on the internet plainly makes its inclusion in this article an example of "fair use". The use of this photo here cannot possibly adversely affect the commercial prospects for future sale of this book, of the artwork pictured, of the original photo, of high quality reproductions of the photo, or of the art of Jane Frank in general — in fact, the likely effect (if any) should be quite the opposite.
(Furthermore, since there was no image or photo of Jane Frank to be found anywhere on the internet, it was not possible merely to provide readers with a link to one.)
