My careers
I am one of 1,300 New York City Teaching Fellows, as a science teacher. Nothing in my work here at Wikipedia is endorsed by any agency or department of the NYC DOEgovernment. I started my pre-service training in June 2017, with my master's studies at the Relay Graduate School of Education. I have passed all of my required educator tests and background check, and am provisionally ("Trans B") licensed. I have taught at two middle schools in The Bronx. I'm most proud of getting students to pass their state tests. I defended my dissertation successfully, and expect to complete my portfolio (edTPA) and my degree by the end of 2019.

I'm also licensed as an attorney and notary public. I taught paralegal studies, business law, and criminal justice at Bryant & Stratton College for 19 years, 16 of those full-time. Teaching at middle school is nothing like teaching at the college level!

Previously, I held a variety of jobs, including as a cook, administrative assistant, associate attorney, biology and psychology tutor, salesperson, and corporate trainer. I consider myself a polymath: I graduated from The Bronx High School of Science, and in college, I majored in political science, minored in biology, and earned significant academic credits in chemistry, physics, psychology, and sociology. I hold a doctorate in law from the law school of the oldest nonsectarian private university in North America, where I was a managing editor of the first volume of Albany Law Journal of Science and Technology. I may not be a notable academic, but I was prominent at the college that I taught and even in that sector of Higher Ed. I am most proud that I was able to increase student retention from 40 % to 82 % in my programs.
