The Firebird is a ballet and orchestral concert work by the Russian composer Igor Stravinsky. It was written for the 1910 Paris season of Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes company; the original choreography was by Michel Fokine, who collaborated with Alexandre Benois and others on a scenario based on the Russian fairy tales of the magical Firebird and the blessing and curse it possesses for its owner. Set in the evil immortal Koschei's castle, the ballet follows Prince Ivan, who battles Koschei with the help of the Firebird. It was an immediate success, catapulting Stravinsky to international fame and leading to future Diaghilev-Stravinsky collaborations like Petrushka (1911) and The Rite of Spring (1913). One stage adaptation, by Maurice Béjart, was set during a political revolution; John Neumeier's production featured Koschei as a robot. Stravinsky's 1919 concert suite remains the most popular today. A film version with the original choreography was released in 1959. The Firebird

Thank you today for Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption, "about a church meant to criticize Televangelists and to draw attention to how easy it is to start a church in the US. Since I think most editors will need some context—basically, a church is a physical (or digital) place consisting of organised events containing prayer that provides a cohesive and often creative expression of beliefs, community, stories or morals." - There is a discussion on Peter Grimes, 3 options. I hope that is neutral enough. Some pics around the place of the concert with the basses in April ;) -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:43, 3 May 2024 (UTC)

:::::::::::I'm not sure I have much to contribute to Vivaldi- an RfC on having links within IBs is necessary soon, but the lack of interest in an RfC both at the mos talk page and at the village pump make it seem futile at this point. :::::::::::: Perhaps we see things differently but my understanding of the general MoS discussion of "list of works" in infoboxes doesn't discredit them, no? :::::::::::: ... and where did it go - without reasoning - for Schumann? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:46, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
:::::::::::::I agree that the MoS discussion yielded good results for our argument, and I do believe that those links are great for infoboxes (especially for artists), but the few dissents make any consensus there difficult. :::::::::::::::An interesting stance- I'm not quite sure what they're trying to get at. Perhaps trying to satirize the silliness of the debate? :::::::::::::::: While I'm not sure, I believe it's a nice satire, lightning the mood. Made me smile. I have been on both sides of the discussion (s. ::Let me add my congratulations. There are two outstanding minor queries from the last FAC reviewer, after your temporary departure: (i) if possible a footnote about the feminine in Russian women's surnames (I can't find a reliable source) and (ii) clarification of the Russian/German relevance of the mention of the dropping of "Soulima" from the family name. == WikiCup 2024 July newsletter ==

The third round of the 2024 WikiCup ended on 28 June. As with Round 2, this round was competitive: each of the 16 contestants who advanced to Round 4 scored at least 256 points.

The following editors all scored more than 400 points in Round 3:

* with 1,059 points, mostly from 1 featured article on W. Gill, 11 good articles, 18 did you know nominations, and dozens of reviews;
* with 673 points, mostly from 2 featured articles on Worlds (Porter Robinson album) and I'm God, 5 good articles, and 2 did you know nominations;
* with 557 points, mostly from 1 featured article on KNXV-TV, 5 good articles, and 8 did you know nominations; and
* with 415 points, mostly from 1 featured article on Great cuckoo-dove, with a high number of bonus points from that article.

The full scores for round 3 can be seen here. So far this year, competitors have gotten 28 featured articles, 38 featured lists, 240 good articles, 92 in the news credits, and at least 285 did you know credits. They have conducted 279 featured article reviews, as well as 492 good article reviews and peer reviews, and have added 22 articles to featured topics and good topics.

Remember that any content promoted after 28 June but before the start of Round 4 can be claimed during Round 4, which starts on 1 July at 00:00 (UTC). Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether for a good article, featured content, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Needed.

If you would like to learn more about rules and scoring for the 2024 WikiCup, please see this page. Further questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges (Cwmhiraeth, Epicgenius, and Frostly) are reachable on their talk pages. Hi, MyCatIsAChonk! Hope you are doing well! I recently opened a new FLC, this time for List of SB19 live performances, and I was wondering if you have any spare time to have take a look? It has not gotten any traction for two weeks now, so your participation can be a great help. No pressure though!
