Calendar dates

Does it really matter on which day a race is held? Because right now, covering that in the calendar table quite literally makes the calendar three times bigger than it needs to be. I find it odd that some editors protest having a table that is wider than necessary and yet insist on having a table that is taller than necessary. @Prisonermonkeys, stop putting the incorrect information. I follow FIA Formula 3 European Championship since its inception in 2012. And the championship never had a stable schedule for the race weekend. This is the main reason why we use table of a bigger size here. Corvus tristis (talk) 14:09, 12 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
And yes it is important. Because what's the point in the calendar at all if we don't know the exact date of the race? Corvus tristis (talk) 14:11, 12 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
As I said above, I don't see the need to distinguish between the exact dates of each race. Why does it matter that the first race in Pau is on the 12th and the second two on the 13th? All you have really done is create a table three times bigger than it needs to be. All I can think of is the potential for a driver to retire in race 2 and be unable to make the start for race 3, but that's speculation for now and if it does happen, it should be addressed in prose. To rely on tbe calendar table implying it is lazy editing. Likewise, making editing decisions based on what is good for another article first and the current article second is poor editing.
And I really don't care how long you have been following the sport for. It doesn't automatically make you an authority or excuse your poor editing practice. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 14:16, 12 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Your editing practice isn't any better. The statement "Each round consists of three races, with the first race held on the Saturday of a race meeting and the second two held on the Sunday" is the clear example of your FIA Formula 3 European Championship expertise. Some things work better in the tabular form than in prose. And the calendar with the different schedule of the races is the exact thing. Corvus tristis (talk) 14:28, 12 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Again, you still haven't demonstrated the significance of specifying the dates of each race when stating the weekend is adequate. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 14:42, 12 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
I know one user, who probable knows about obvious significance of the exact dates. Or it was an act of lazy editing when he can use prose? Corvus tristis (talk) 14:54, 12 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Those two races are run to different formats and are scored differently. And those changes to the table don't radically affect the size. You still haven't addressed the way this table is three times as big as it needs to be. If you still insist on specifying the dates, then the table can be adapted to use the same format as the one you linked to without making it too large; it shouldn't be any wider than the results table.
Dredging up old edits for the sake of a "gotcha!" moment rarely wins debates. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 23:53, 12 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Rookies championship

With this scoring system:

Position  1st   2nd   3rd   4th   5th   6th   7th   8th   9th   10th
Points 25 18 15 12 10 8 6 4 2 1

it's not understandable why in Rookies championship their places are not shown from 1–10. Current system doesn't make sense, it's not clear how many points each driver scores. Table shows their overall placings, which we could find from the previous table (Drivers' championship) anyway. --Pelmeen10 (talk) 15:29, 13 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

You are right that it's not clear how many points each driver scores. But will it be correct to show their rookie's classification as they haven't actually finished on the places that you propose to show in the table? Corvus tristis (talk) 16:07, 13 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
I think it would be, because they have a different classification. http://www.fiaf3europe.com/2018-championship/ shows how many points each driver scores, so with our system (to show position) it would be much clearer. Currently it doesn't make sense that 10+ positions score points. Maybe also add a sentence before the table (or under "Scoring system"), just to clarify the situation. Same thing applies to 2014–2017 seasons. --Pelmeen10 (talk) 18:13, 13 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
I have no strong objection to your proposal, but I haven't enough time to edit the tables. We already had the current table system not only in FIA Formula 3 European Championship but also in Formula 3 Euro Series, German Formula Three Championship, ADAC Formula 4, British Formula 3 Championship and Italian F4 Championship (with the last two it worked especially well due to different classes and the necessity to show actual finish position), etc. If you ready for such amount of work, then good luck. Notes

@Mayerroute5 — you don't have a consensus to change the "[note #]" to "[N #]". You didn't get one on the F1 article, you didn't get one for the F2 article, and you haven't even tried to get one here. 1.129.105.22 (talk) 09:10, 28 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
