Actually Roger Bacon was intimatelyoh snappp familiar with esoteric Arab knowledge, religious, scientific and otherwise. He lectured at Oxford wearing what would now be called Sufi robes. Shah is scarcely an umimpeachalbe source! bacon doesn not seem to ahve had more contact with Arabic culture than his contemproaries.
