I don't see a mention of the Frankfurt school/lumpenproletariat elsewhere in the article (I know leads don't always need citations, especially if the content is expanded upon later in the article), so I'm adding a citation needed tag here
Line 4:
Vanguardism, in the context of Leninist revolutionary struggle, relates to a strategy whereby the most class-conscious and politically "advanced" sections of the proletariat or working class, described as the revolutionary vanguard, form organizations to advance the objectives of communism. They take actions to draw larger sections of the working class toward revolutionary politics and to serve as manifestations of proletarian political power opposed to the bourgeoisie. This theory serves as the underpinning of the leading role of the Communist party, usually enshrined in the constitution, after the seizure of power in the state by Communists.

For the Frankfurt School, the lumpenproletariat are the vanguardists in revolution. This group, often on the fringes due to poverty and exclusion, have potential to challenge the status quo. Unlike the industrial proletariat, whose role in production initially led Marx see them as the primary agents of change, the lumpenproletariat existed outside conventional labor roles, detached from mainstream structures.
