Zeman began his youth career at local club [[SV Wienerberger]], but he soon moved on to [[First Vienna FC|FC Vienna]]. In 1945 Zeman joined [[Rapid Vienna]] and also won his first cap for the [[Austria Nationalnational Footballfootball Team]]team. With Rapid, Zeman won 8eight [[Austrian Bundesliga|Austrian league championships and]], one [[Austrian cupCup]], and the 1951 [[Zentropa Cup]].
 
For the national side Zeman competed at the [[1954 FIFA World Cup]] in which Austria progressed to the semi-finals before being defeated by [[West Germany national football team|West Germany]]. In total Zeman won 41 caps for Austria, and is often regarded as Austria's second greatest keeper after [[Rudi Hiden]]. Throughout his career, he earned the nicknames the ''Tiger of Budapest'' and the ''Panther of Glasgow'', for his international performances.
