Ed Request - fix failed verification problem

- Under the Early life section, for the setence: "Work married Maude Elise Porter (1873[failed verification]-1946), a schoolteacher, on August 14, 1895[failed verification], in Monterey.
- Please rewrite the sentence to include the correct information with citation, as:
- "Work married Maude E. Porter, a teacher, on August 14, 1895, in New Monterey."[1]

Declined Greg, the reason we can't use things like WP:FAMILYSEARCH is that it's curated by amateur research. Amateurs use locate primary sources like the one you referenced and link into someone's profile. Which reliable published secondary source identify this"T.A. Work" is the Thomas Albert Work of this article? I've told you about such matter in the past. Netherzone has as well. Graywalls (talk) 02:04, 18 June 2024 (UTC)
- It is not from familysearch.org. It is coming from a reliable newspaper, which is providing a marriage license. This is a primary source that should be allowed per WP:RS. Greg Henderson (talk) 02:21, 18 June 2024 (UTC)
- A section of newspaper that is simply announcing list of people who have applied for marriage licenses, whose suing who, whose house sold to who. Something very common before the day of internet. FamilySearch isn't allowed, because compilation by amateur of such records into a profile is likely to introduce errors, which many of your drafts are full of. Work company replace the text and citation for: "In 1913, he purchased 2,000-acre (8.1 km2) from the David Jacks family, an area stretching form Seaside, California to Marina. He sold the land to the government so they could build the Fort Ord military base at the start of World War II.[1] (Note: this citation is already in the article.)[unreliable source?]
- To: "In 1913, he purchased 2,000-acre (8.1 km2) from the David Jacks, an area stretching form on the Del Monte-Castroville highway."[2]

Partly done: I've mostly done the request, though I omitted the inclusion that David Jacks (businessman) was who was purchased from. The source refers to "Jacks estate", but there is no clarity in the newspaper clipping that it is a David Jacks. —Sirdog (talk) 03:29, 31 July 2024 (UTC)

- A painting titled Portrait of T. A. Work, is in the Monterey Museum of Art, which was a gift of Virginia and Thomas A. Work III. This painting has been included in two exhibitions at the Museum.[1] Greg Henderson (talk) 16:25, 18 June 2024 (UTC)
