Perfidy

edit

Here after the inevitable revert. The first section of perfidy in the israeli section doesn't belong there. Only one source alludes to classifying this as a warcrime in the perfidy sense (for being disguised as civilians). Every other link is talking about either alleged 'extra-judicial' killings or the potential crime of attacking a hospital as a protected space. However, these 2 potential crimes don't fall under perfidy, so this whole section has to be moved. Pinging @Selfstudier. Your classification of my summary as misleading, is misleading. See ABC and BBC links for example, You asserted one source, that's just wrong, I'll be charitable and assume this was just an error on your part. Selfstudier (talk) 09:49, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
What I meant is that quote was collectively taken from one professor. My impression was that the claims that was discussed more were the other claims. JoeJShmo💌 10:06, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

It's even worse, I checked one random statement and it wasn't supported by the source. The article says The International Committee of the Red Cross expressed concern that the raid was a violation of international humanitarian law while the source only said that

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)... has expressed concern over the raid. "Under international humanitarian law, hospitals and medical patients should be respected and protected at all times", the ICRC said, adding that it would raise the issue "as part of its confidential dialogue with the concerned authorities".

Change it and give a direct quote if you wish, it means exactly the same thing. Selfstudier (talk) 09:51, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

In the Hamas crimes section there is at one point a line that reads, 'on the counter side, the IDF [has also been accused of bad things]. There is a separate section on the alleged Israeli crimes, this sentence doesn't belong here and adds no info on the Hamas crimes. JoeJShmo💌 11:03, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Edit request for misleading quotation

edit

In the By Israel section, the sentence, [Antony Blinken indicated the Biden administration has a "high tolerance" for whatever happens in Gaza.], through the use of quote marks, could imply that this is direct language from Blinken or Biden himself via Blinken.

The sentence that it appears to reference in the cited article is: [Even so, Mr. Blinken signaled in his travels that the Biden administration would have a high tolerance for whatever results from Israel’s military response.], giving no indication that this language is directly from either but rather an editorial choice by the article author.

As such, I suggest the quote marks be removed, the sentence be struck, or the sentence be changed to [Antony Blinken "signaled in his travels that the Biden administration would have a high tolerance for whatever results from Israel’s military response" in Gaza, according to Edward Wong of the New York Times.] in order to prevent misunderstanding. 163.182.3.214 (talk) 03:36, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Edit request, add kidnapping and abuse of kidnapping victims by israel

edit

Please edit the article to include that "israel has been accused of retaliatory kidnapping and mistreatment of 3,432 civilians detained indefinitely without charges, 3:1 overcrowding, forcing prisoners to sleep on the floor, attacking, terrorizing and humiliating prisoners with dogs, using pepper spray and tear gas for no reason, broke prisoners bones, denied prisoners medical treatment, severely beating prisoners, continuing abusive practices the israeli occupation has used for decades. Dozens of journalists and healthcare workers from Gaza have also been arbitrarily detained or kidnapped." using https://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-News/2024/08/11/palestine-israel-captive-taking-overcrowding-prisons/1021723387906/ as a source.   Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Much of this is already represented in the Abuse and humiliation of detainees section – macaddct1984 (talk | contribs) 13:51, 12 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Macaddct1984 What's not clear? — kashmīrī TALK 18:52, 12 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Kashmiri, it wasn't clear where they want it added; they've clarified now they would like a new section on abductions and expand the detainee abuse section; feel free to add it. Although, I don't think using the phrase "Israel is accused" is not an accurate representation of the source; the prisoner conditions comes from what "the captives said in a joint statement" and "Palestinians and their supporters often equate [administrative detention] to kidnapping". – macaddct1984 (talk | contribs) 23:11, 12 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Change no section on abductions, referring to retaliatory kidnapping by israel to a new section on abductions where israel is accused of carrying out retaliatory kidnappings of 3,432 civilians including healthcare workers and journalists using the upi source as reference. In the abuse of detainee section change nothing to be "israel is accused of 3:1 overcrowding, as well as forcing detainees to sleep on the floor, as well as attacking, terrorizing and humiliating prisoners with dogs, using pepper spray and tear gas for no reason, broke prisoners bones, denied prisoners medical treatment, severely beating prisoners, continuing abusive practices the israeli occupation has used for decades." Again using the upi article as reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fanccr (talkcontribs) 18:28, 12 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
