150!Canada is an initiative from the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC) to imagine, plan and celebrate Canada's sesquicentennial in 2017. It began with a conference of public servants, business leaders and non-governmental organizations that took place at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa on March 11 & 12, 2010. Over 300 delegates met in Ottawa to hear from 25 distinguished speakers and to develop a plan of action to celebrate Canada's sesquicentennial.
The concept is based on the Canadian Centennial year celebrations which helped to define Canada’s modern identity. Planning for Canada's centennial celebrations began in the late 1950s as an initiative by private organizations.
A smaller commemoration took place in 1992 as Canada celebrated its 125th anniversary.
