Revision as of 14:24, 22 October 2019

On October 14, 2019 6 people were killed during a shoot out between drug gangs in the el residencial Ernesto Ramos Antonini de Río Piedras[1], Río Piedras area of San Juan Puerto Rico.[2] It was later reported that there were 8 fatalities, 7 men and one women.[3]

Reaction from authorities

The shooting led to alarm partly because it followed an earlier shooting in the same area that resulted in 2 deaths.[4] New reports are of earlier shootings in other areas, one in Cayey resulting in 3 deaths[5] and another in a gas station that resulted in 3 deaths[6]. The governor of Puerto Rico Wanda Vasquez Garced held emergency meetings.[7]

In The Bronx, NY a vigil for the victims was held.[8]
