Production & International Broadcasts

The only spin-off show produced by Disney, Cory in the House was originally set to premiere on November 10, 2006; however, it was delayed to air on January 12, 2007, a week before the fourth anniversary of its parent show, That's So Raven and directly following the movie Jump In!. It was released on Disney Channel India on June 9, 2007 at 9 p.m. It was released in the United Kingdom on January 26, 2007 on Disney Channel UK, which is the soonest a Disney show has ever been released in another country, and premiered in Portugal in March. The show premiered on Disney Channel France on April 24, 2007, on Disney Channel Asia on April 27, 2007 and in Disney Channel Italy on May 16, 2007. It premiered on June 10, 2007 in Disney Channel Latin America after the premiere of Disney Channel's Original Movie Jump In!. In Fall 2007, ABC Kids will add Cory in the House to their Saturday-morning lineup. [1]

The pilot episode, 'The New Kid in Town, was released on iTunes for free on the week of January 2, 2007. Disney Channel UK showed the first episode on January 26 as a sneak peek. The theme song "Cory in the House" is sung by Kyle Massey and Maiara Walsh. An alternate theme song "Rollin' to D.C." is also sung by Massey and Walsh and is used in the music video for the series. The premiere gained 7.6 million viewers, making it the highest rated series premiere for Disney. [citation needed]

The show was created by Marc Warren and Dennis Rinsler, who produced That's So Raven. Cory in the House began filming on July 18, 2006 at Hollywood Center Studios (where The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and That's So Raven are filmed), and uses a studio audience in some scenes. [2]

Many of the episode titles like Hannah Montana are parodies of popular songs. For example, We Built This Kitty on Rock and Roll and We Built This City, Mall of Confusion and Ball of Confusion, Smells Like School Spirit and Smells Like Teen Spirit, and Ain't Miss Bahavian and Ain't Misbehavin'.
