Richard Hanania is an American political scientist,[1] columnist[2] and blogger.[3]

Hanania's work focuses on U.S. foreign affairs,[4] Civil Rights law[5] and political polarization.

He has contributed to The New York Times,[6] The Wall Street Journal,[7] The Washington Post and The Atlantic.[8] He is a visiting scholar at the University of Texas at Austin's Salem Center.[9] In 2020,[10] he founded the Center For the Study of Partisanship and Ideology, a right wing think tank.

In 2023, the Huffington Post revealed that Hanania had written a number of racist and sexist posts under a pseudonym.[11] He has since apologized for these posts, but he remains a controversial figure.[12]
