Bombus erzurumensis is a species of bumblebee that is found in Turkey and northern Iran.[2]

Description

The thorax is whitish with a black band between the wings. The two first terga (abdominal segments) are white, followed by a black band; the rest of the abdomen is red. There is comsiderable variation in the pattern, however; the form B. erzurumensis f. oezbeki (erlier considered a separate species, B. oezbeki) has white fur on the face and the corbiculae (pollen basket) covered with red hairs.[2]

Distribution

This bumblebee is found in north-eastern Anatolia and northern Iran.[2]

Ecology

B. erzurumensis is a mountainous species, living on alpines steppes between 1,550 metres (5,090 ft) and 3,000 metres (9,800 ft). It collects nectar and pollen from flowering plants as, for example, Cephalaria sp., Campanula sp., Jurinea moschus and Nepeta fissa.[2]
