"J'attendais" (meaning "I Was Waiting") is a song by Canadian singer Celine Dion from her thirteenth studio album, D'eux (1995). It was written by Jean-Jacques Goldman, and produced by Goldman and Erick Benzi. The live version of the song from Live à Paris was released as a single on 30 June 1996. It reached numbers 22 in Belgium Wallonia and 46 in France.

Background and release

Dion recorded D'eux in November and December 1994 in the Méga Studio in Paris, France.[1] Most songs were written by Jean-Jacques Goldman, while the production was handled by Goldman and Erick Benzi.[2] The live version of "J'attendais" from Live à Paris was released as a single on 30 June 1997.

Commercial performance

The single peaked at number 46 in France. It was the result of releasing "J'attendais" eight months after Live à Paris album debuted on charts. The studio recording of this song was also available on Dion's previous album D'eux, which already sold over 4 million copies in France, becoming the best-selling album ever. "J'attendais" also peaked at number 22 in Belgium Wallonia.

Dion performed the song during her 1995 D'eux Tour.

The music video was taken from the concert in Zenith Theatre, Paris. It can be found on the Live à Paris DVD.
