Jump SQ. (ジャンプスクエア, Janpu Sukuea, literally Jump Square) correctly romanized as ジャンプSQ. is a Japanese brand new shōnen manga magazine that debuted on November 2 2007 by SHUEISHA, Inc. The magazine costs 500 Yen. (equivalent of $4.00 in U.S. money) The manga magazine is on sale every 4th of the month. The series from Jump SQ. are put into the JUMP Comics line owned by Weekly Shonen Jump. Only the Tegamibachi Volume 3 from Jump SQ. has been published in JUMP Comics.

History

The magazine was originally made to replace Monthly Shonen Jump due to lack of income. The name of the magazine is pun, the abreviation for "Square" is "SQ." which also can stand for "Supreme Quality" making a reference to it's full title "Jump Square: Supreme Quality Manga Magazine". Anyway the title still remains correctly Jump SQ. as it is spelled on s-manga.net, SHUEISHA's official website, and anywhere else.

Four series from the magazine Tegamibachi, Rosario + Vampire, Claymore, and Gag Manga Biyori were serialized in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine until the start Jump SQ. Before Jump SQ.'s official run, 12 back-up issues made in 2007. The issues featured characters from some of the newest series. The 12th back-up issue was declared the very first issue with Embalming -The Another Tale of Frankenstein- on the cover.

Right after the Embalming issue, (at the very end of 2007) the 2008 issues started. Like every other manga magazine the Issue number restarted; so far there are only 3 issues for 2008. The series Mahō-Tsukai Kurohime which formerly was serialized as a manga series in Monthly Jump; continued on the magazine's website as an Online Manga. A series called Shaman King (also well known in the United States) that was originally serialized in Weekly Jump was going to be continued in Jump SQ.; fliers were handed out to people at Jump Festa 2008 including the news.

Also in the Jump SQ. manga magazine a section is devoted to U.S. SHONEN JUMP releases. [1] This was also mentioned in the VIZBlog recently created by VIZ Media, LLC. The first appearance of this section had VIZ's Dr. Brown wearing large amounts of English Naruto merchandise and the new Naruto Shadow Box behind him with a description of everything on the page.
