This is a list of mayors of Jersey City, New Jersey, USA.

The City of Jersey was originally chartered by an act of incorporation in 1820. The city was governed by a five member Board of Selectmen.

The City of Jersey City was incorporated in 1838 under a Mayor-Common Council form of government with a directly elected mayor and a Board of Aldermen. All terms were for one year. In 1870, with the merger of Jersey City, Hudson City, and the City of Bergen, terms for mayor became two years. In 1885, the New Jersey State Legislature changed the term of mayor to five years.

In 1913, the city adopted a commission form of government under the Walsh Act of 1911. This form provided for five commissioners elected city-wide. Traditionally the candidate who received the most votes would serve as mayor. All terms were four years.

In 1950, the city reformed its charter as a Mayor-Council form of government under the Optional Municipal Charter Law. This provided for a city-wide elected mayor in a nonpartisan municipal election. All terms were four years. Interim mayors were selected by the city council to complete an unexpired term. Acting mayors assumed the office by virtue of being President of the city council at the time of a vacancy.
