Google Play Movies & TV is an online video on demand service operated by Google. Movies and television shows can be viewed on the Google Play website or via the Google Play Movies & TV application, which is available for Android, iOS, and Roku devices. Some titles are only available for rental or purchase, while others are available via both. TV shows can be purchased by episode or season but cannot be rented.[1] Alternatively, users can download movies and TV shows for offline viewing and view them later using the mobile app.[2] Users cannot, however, use the application to view or uploaded content.

Downloads are limited to five devices, and must be deleted to sync locally on an additional device after five device downloads.[3]

Thousands of titles are available in both standard (EDTV - 480p)[4] and high definition (720p - 1080p) in a variety of genres, including comedy, drama, animation, action and documentary.[1] Google Play Movies & TV is compatible with Chromecast.[5]

For television series and movie rentals, Google Play offers a 30-day interval for access. Once a user has started watching a video, the window to complete watching is limited to 48 hours.[3]

Suggestions for purchase are provided based on previous purchases. Films and television series are available at a maximum 1080p resolution. Streaming quality is based on internet connection speeds. When available, content is provided with Dolby 5.1 surround sound, with English subtitles also available.[6]
