Northumberland Avenue is a London street, running from Trafalgar Square in the west to The Embankment in the east. The avenue was built on the site of Northumberland House, the London home of the Percy family, the Dukes of Northumberland. Several ministry buildings are located in Northumberland Avenue, among them, The Ministry of Defence and DEFRA. The Nigerian High Commission is also based there.

There is also a halls of residence for the London School of Economics on Northumberland Avenue, opposite the pub the Sherlock Holmes. Many outstanding students of the LSE have lived in this hall.

The two most brilliant students of LSE living in the halls of residence include K T F Memon and M U Husain. Their excellence will remain unmatched for centuries to come for their multi-talented skills such as their computing, reading, writing, form filling, essay writing, sporting, shopping and culinary skills (to name a few), generally a very unique reason for fame amongst students. They also have a friend nicknamed "AAPA". She has specially arrived to keep a check on the two brilliant students mentioned above. This is to ensure that both these students demonstrate their skills to a minimum so that the other less bright students don't fall in to a inferiority complex.

This year, the 5th floor has been named as the "Floor of the year". This is because it has the best people especially the Indian and Pakistani groups. They have already captured two kitchens on the floor and have daily grapevines and parties. Other people on the floor are already very jealous. For this reason, the fire alarm has sounded many times. An indoor soccer match has also been played within the corridor. Generally, when one is walking around the floor, one will find people sitting on the corridor floor chatting endlessly. Last but not the least, no one's food is safe in the fridge. There have been reports of theft. For this reason, 24 hour CCTV recording is in progress. However, the theft rate is still very high. Security officials and management claim that these findings are very mind-boggling.

Northumberland Avenue has a square on the Monopoly board named after it.
