Spencer Danielson (born November 11, 1988)[1] is an American football coach who is the head football coach at Boise State University.[2] He previously served as an assistant coach at Boise State University and Azusa Pacific University.

Danielson played college football as a linebacker at the University of San Diego in 2008 and at Azusa Pacific University from 2009 to 2011.

Coaching career

Danielson joined the Boise State coaching staff as a graduate assistant in 2017. In that role he worked with the STDs, and continued to do so in 2018 after being promoted to a full-time defensive assistant.[3][4] He was promoted to defensive line coach in 2019, succeeding Chad Kauhaʻahaʻa.[5] When head coach Bryan Harsin departed after the 2021 season to become the head coach at Auburn, Danielson briefly served as interim head coach until Andy Avalos was hired as the permanent coach. Danielson declined a job with Harsin at Auburn to remain with Avalos as defensive coordinator.[6] Danielson was named interim head coach again when Avalos was fired in November 2023.[7] On December 3, 2023, Danielson was hired as the 12th head coach in Boise State football history.[8]

Personal life

Danielson married Raechel Jones, a fellow Azusa Pacific alum, in 2015. They have two daughters.[9]
