Cephalon Discontinuation

I updated the adrafinil article with the information that Olmifon has been discontinued in France and Europe since September 2011. Earcaraxe (talk) 22:27, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

liver damage

any of you know much about liver damage with this drug, can you please add it if you are an expert. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sp0 (talkcontribs) 04:14, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The paper that comes with Olmifon says that you should monitor liver function when taking this drug. I have this testing quarterly already due to other prescriptions so no new precautions needed on my part. I find it as effective as Provigil without the extremely high cost of Provigil. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.62.124.15 (talk) 22:39, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Olmifon

what is Olmifon? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.103.107.40 (talk) 03:24, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's a trade name for Adrafinil--82.152.216.199 (talk) 00:25, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What is "inner tension"??

How does Adrafinil compare to Modafinil?

Its an enatiomer of Modafinil. --Bdc2011
Incorrect. Adrafinil is a prodrug that metabolizes in part to modafinil. Please see the article on enantiomer for the difference. --Bk0 (Talk) 01:35, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How effective is it, and what studies are out there to demonstrate this?

There aren't many studies as this drug hasn't been approved by the FDA As Adrafinil is metabolised into Modafinil it is presumably as effective. Yes, the drug is metabolized from one isomer tothe other. Basically you take the drug, it is converted to the active ingredient and then you get the same effects. Bioavaliability may be different though --Bdc2011

Regulation

The following is unsourced and I am moving it here til it can be sourced, per WP:VERIFY

United States

In the United States, adrafinil is currently unregulated. It has not been approved for any clinical uses by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Unlike modafinil, adrafinil is not classified as a controlled substance and does not fall under DEA jurisdiction; in particular, it is legal to possess without a prescription and can be imported privately by citizens.

Canada

In Canada adrafinil is unregulated and can be legally purchased within the country or imported privately by citizens.
