'New atheism' is only an example of two words arbitrarily placed beside each other, with no inherent meaning whatsoever. A phrase that ought not exist anywhere. Axiomatically, this wikipedia entry ought not exist. 49.180.90.162 (talk) 11:10, 1 November 2023 (UTC)

:I agree in that the people called 'New Atheist' are not actually identifying themselves as anything other than atheist. The new part is merely that they are now open about it.
:In that sense, the atheists haven't changed. They have the same views. Religion has just lost enough of it's power that it can't silence them anymore.
:However, there is also more to describe there than just atheism as a lack of belief in god : atheist intellectuals, the atheist movement, atheist activism.
:And then there's secular humanism which has a lot of cross-over with atheism but not entirely.
:So maybe 'the atheist movement' , 'atheist activism' would be better terms ? Just thinking out loud here 83.134.161.138 (talk) 11:55, 23 December 2023 (UTC)

A draft take over request

Greetings,

I did rewrite an article Draft:Ex-Muslim activism in Kerala which was not originally mine. I just helped it to my capacity and I will prefer some one else takes over the process of further improving of the draft.

Thanks

Criticisms from David Bentley Hart: "Deleted out of place, unsourced claim"

@GenoV84: can you please further explain your deletion of the "Criticisms from David Bentley Hart" section that I wrote? I can understand if it was "out of place" in the sense that it belongs elsewhere in the criticism section. However, I don't understand your note that it was an "unsourced claim." It is a very prominent criticism of New Atheism that has received sustained attention in numerous book reviews, major awards, etc. I had several references regarding some examples. I'm glad to talk here with you about how to improve the content, but I would appreciate a review by some other editors if your position is that this information does not belong in this article at all. Thank you for the time. Jjhake (talk) 22:13, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@GenoV84: sorry to bother you with the above, but you can disregard it. I had stupidly thought you deleted the entire section, but I see upon looking more closely that you were just removing the little sample from the book of Hart's rhetorical style. It makes sense that such a rhetorical style sample doesn't belong here. Please excuse my pointless messages here. Jjhake (talk) 22:19, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not Anything

New atheism is not anything outlined here. What is outlined here is Atheism. Same as it ever was. Not new. Not old. Just Atheism. 'New atheism' is only an example of two words arbitrarily placed beside each other, with no inherent meaning whatsoever. A phrase that ought not exist anywhere. Axiomatically, this wikipedia entry ought not exist. 49.180.90.162 (talk) 11:10, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I agree in that the people called 'New Atheist' are not actually identifying themselves as anything other than atheist. The new part is merely that they are now open about it.
In that sense, the atheists haven't changed. They have the same views. Religion has just lost enough of it's power that it can't silence them anymore.
However, there is also more to describe there than just atheism as a lack of belief in god : atheist intellectuals, the atheist movement, atheist activism.
And then there's secular humanism which has a lot of cross-over with atheism but not entirely.
So maybe 'the atheist movement' , 'atheist activism' would be better terms ? Just thinking out loud here 83.134.161.138 (talk) 11:55, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ayaan Hirsh Ali

Perhaps the section on Ayaan Hirshi Ali should be updated given her recent article where she now identifies as a christian. Source: https://unherd.com/2023/11/why-i-am-now-a-christian/ 83.134.161.138 (talk) 11:39, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
