Bibliography

I am reviewing, and – where needed, when possible – updating bibliographic references and associated data. To that end, I am also trying to use the citation templates with the hope of eventually migrating the bibliographic section to a Harvard inline style (notes → references). Url access to many of the citations might help other editors maintain the article more easily. And, segregating the bibliography ("News media," etc.) might help future editors maintain dynamic data. I am not attempting to edit the content (much). I very much welcome others to help. – Eurodog (talk) 13:30, 15 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

CS1 maint: numeric names: authors list complaints

A number of references contain dates when specifying the author within the citation. (E.g. first1=Vincent Francis (1918–2012)) These result in CS1 maint: numeric names: authors list complaints.

I plan to "fix" these by using accept-this-as-written markup. That is to say, by wrapping the entire parameter value in two sets of parentheses, like ((this)). As I somehow got the impression that the citation style in question (parenthetical referencing) is now considered deprecated, I am not sure this is the right approach. So I won't object if someone chooses to revert my edits. However, if you do so, I would appreciate an explanation and a suggestion as to a better approach. Done. I also fixed some CS1 maint: multiple names: authors list complaints in a similar manner. I'll be interested to see any feedback.
